Thank you everyone!!!

Tanner is still in pain, but I'm back home all day today, so I will be able to give him all 3 doses of his painkiller medicine if he needs it. Blueberry muffin... I go crazy for that too :giggle: I'll keep that in mind!

Since the blueberry baby food is what he's been eating the most, I offered him lots of it this morning. I also offered piece of hamburger, eggs and banana. Eggs were the winners - he ate a couple of pieces. When the 2 hours post abs is passed, I will offer him some yogourt - that is something else they go crazy for. Hopefully, he'll be tempted. Since he didn't seem to like the sandy texture of mushed Harlan, I soaked some Extrusion blocks, but I don't think he tried them yet. Later on when he's awake, I'll try to tempt him with them.

He now has an issue with an eye - I think he hurt it picking at his sutures. I will take a picture a bit later, but it looks like a blister. Since the clinic is closed today, all I can think of is flush it, but if you have any other idea, I'm all open to suggestions!

A little update on Tanner!

He is doing pretty good! I have been putting him with the others for a few minutes under very strict supervision at playtime since Sunday night and he went from "leave me alone" to "hey, I remember you!" within 24 hours! :joy: Everyone kind of ignored him but Princesse, who got very curious and a little puffy, and Chester, who became down right aggressive (puffy and sniffing). But my Chester made me very proud tonight - after I kept removing him when he got puffy too close to Tanner, he headed for the bench at the end of my bed and thought things through. When he came back, he would basically turn his back on Tanner, no aggression, nothing! Tanner even had his chance at smelling him. My special boy!

Tanner was a bad boy though - he chewed through 3/4 of his sutures and removed the glue from that whole area. It still looks good and clean, but I will call the clinic tomorrow and see whether I should take him back to redo the sutures. Other than that, he is very alert, he stopped fleeing from us and actually fell asleep in my arms while I was petting him, watching the news. My Tanner is back! He is such a little trooper... I can't wait to have him move back with his friends and for all of this to be completely behind him.

Yay that he's doing so well!! My mom was just asking about him tonight! :) They heal so fast I'm sure he'll be fine. So happy for you that he's back to his old self. You're all through the worst of it now. :hugs:
But what a naughty boy, doesn't he know what is good for him?? lol

Give him & Hunter kisses for me!!!

If Tanner is still on the buprenorphine, that's probably why he chewed out his stitches, that horrible pica that comes after using it. Its the reason Inca opened up her tumour removal incision so much. I am not fond of the stuff and I am seriously thinking of putting a request in to only use in emergencies, since Dr Munn uses it for every surgery.

He sounds like he is doing very well besides the removal of his glue and stitches

That could be the after effect, the last dose I gave him was Sunday morning - he didn't seem to need it afterwards, so I just stopped. Relieved to know it could be related to the use of the medication, I prefer that option to the fact that he actually is a "suture barber". :giggle:

Here's a picture I took before going to bed so I could send to the clinic. Putting it under spoiler for those very sensitive souls - it really is not too bad at all. [spoiler:1y6y58lo] [/spoiler:1y6y58lo]
Pretty sure I already know the answer, but just out of curiosity - this does need restitching, right?

They get lots and lots of those, but I'll make sure they know that some of tonight's are from their second mom Megan :cheeky: After out time last night, I brought back Tanner and Hunter in bed with us before we went to sleep. While I was finishing my nightly errands, BF saw them playfight, with Hunter happily giving in first and rolling on his back. Those two are an inseparable pair - I am so so SO happy they get to be reunited!!!

And everyone else who wants to give kisses to my brave boy - don't worry! I have plenty in store, he'll get them all, I promise!!! :cheeky:

I wouldn't have him re-stitched it looks like its just at that phase where it gaps open a little and looks a bit rough from all his stretching, moving and pulling at it. It should heal very nicely from now on :)

Poor tanner hates stitches hehe, but I hope that all fully heals for him soon! :)

OK... here are the vet's advice

No suturing as there is a beginning of infection (bad boy is actually a very good boy - it's a good thing he opened his sutures!). I will do very short hydrotherapy (1 min), then clean him with a formula of 50% peroxyde and 50% water (Baxedin is discontinued, apparently), and add polysporin. She will be seeing him on Friday, so we'll take it from there then.

Saving a fourth trip to the clinic in 7 days!

As long as his internal sutures holding his muscle together are intact, the skin will heal OK.
I would use caution with peroxide as apparently it kills healthy tissue too.
I'm glad he is feeling better now!

Sorry, forgot to add:
I would not immerse him in water as you do not want the water going into his body underneath the skin. Just like when you have surgery (eg: like having your gall bladder removed), you are not allowed to take a bath for at least a week.
Ditto with the peroxide - it should be a superficial flush. The last thing you want is it bubbling under the skin in a pocket and making an air bubble under his skin.
