I ended up getting Baxedin after all - thank you SO MUCH Victoria!!! - and I did start the hydrotherapy and flushing. Not sure what to do now... I didn't see your post until now, Joanne, now I'm confused. The last thing I wanna do is slow down a healthy recovery!

Should I call the vet and confirm the hydrotherapy according to the caution above? :help:

It looks a lot like Inca's incision that she opened up...twice. I left it and it healed very well :) I think its just serum, and granulating tissue. I honestly wouldn't touch it :)

Inca's incision HAS to go under a spoiler LOL

OK... I'll stop hydrotherapy and flushing for now and see with my vet tomorrow night. I suppose I should also stop the Polysporin, right?

BTW, Inca's incision doesn't look that bad! Funny how I looked at it and thought "Neat!" :laugh4:

Hydrotherapy isn't like having him sit in a bath, you're just having water run over the area to encourage blood flow and immune response. I think giving him a minute or so of hydrotherapy would probably be good.

That's exactly what she recommended - 1 minute of hydrotherapy, then the flushing and polysporin.

Now I am REALLY confused! :gaah:

No polysporin, I would say the hydrotherapy would be fine but I wouldn't do additional flushing either. Just let it heal :) I let Inca's dry out and it healed well. :)

My plan ended up being : take a sniff and act as my nose tells me to. Then I'll confirm tomorrow. In any case, I'll cut the Polysporin

I wouldn't bet money with you, because my nose so far has not detected anything, and I did kiss his belly quite a few times again this morning. I'll just do it to be extra careful!

Aww, kiss his cute little belly for me? I love giving belly kisses!
I hope that infection goes away quick! but now he's like "see, mom? I was just trying to let the infection out!" Good little man, Tanner

A new update on Tanner! He keeps getting better - actually, I'd say he's almost 100% beside his incision and one his back legs that has a hard time getting back to normal. We are going to the vet tonight - originally to have a check on the piggies after 2 weeks on abs, but I added Tanner first because of his eye (which seems to be completely healed up already), and now because of his incision. I took a sniff last night (and 2 and 3) and didn't smell anything, so I left it alone. This morning, it looked like it was starting to close up. Of course, I'll ask the vet to make sure there is no sign of infection whatsoever before I leave it to close on its own, but things are looking very good to me! :joy:

I expect getting the OK tonight to have him move back in with his friends - even if I don't, I will probably go ahead anyway. Tanner misses his friends and I hate seeing him alone in that small temp cage. They all have had out time together on the bed for days now, with the regular toys full of their scents, without anymore issue, so a clean cage tomorrow should be all it takes to close this chapter of our lives.

This morning, I caught him lying on his back in his cozygloo, his little feet curled up, so I couldn't resist and scratched his belly, and petted him, and scratched his head... Little relaxed boy was licking me and chewing in content... what a love!

I can't believe only a week ago, I was a complete wreck, begging that he would make it past that critical first 24 hours... To all of you with your good vibes and support and to the Great One above who apparently heard my prayers - [glow=red:3rw734ro]THANK YOU!!![/glow:3rw734ro]

Tanner is still going strong and being a happy man BUT - he now has 2 abcesses growing on incision site :redhot:

My vet is away this week, but I took him to my next favorite vet on Monday. We added Clavamox to the Baytril and are now waiting to see if it helps, or else it's back to surgery. This is really not my preferred option, obviously, but the abcesses are making him quite uncomfortable so I am about to call the clinic and reserve a spot for next week. On Saturday, I'm taking Cookie in to trim her teeth (my vet is in that day) so I'll take Tanner along and ask for her opinion. I'm pretty sure she'll agree to surgery, so the appointment will already be set. :?
