They're both teen rats. They were together for a week or so before I got them and were fine. I also have max who is Milo's brother. Him and maddox get along. I've had max for almost 2 weeks. Maddox and Milo only since Sunday but Milo is picking on Maddox.

The cage is like 3 feet tall and wide like a chest. I have Milo I. His own cage right now.

Max was the one being introduced. Maddox and Milo had already been introduced and together. I had all 3 together for 4 hours and Milo started picking on Maddox the next day. Max and maddox get along perfectly well. Max and Milo get along too.

2 questions.
1) is the "pfft" noise excitement or annoyance?
2) what's with my Sheldon being so possessive? (Of me)

One more question.

I know neutered males can still get excitable/hump and whatnot. Can they actually...ahem...finish? (Minus semen)

My guy just looked awfully proud of himself.

I'll need more details about the pfft sound. When do you hear it and why?
I don't know if Sheldon is so possessive or if he simply wants to claim you more.
And oh yes, I believe males can still do the deed when neutered. I would have said no in the past until my mom's neutered males would "do it" with spayed girls. The hussies would actually present themselves to the neutered males. Fascinating!

Hi, it seems your question is a bit more complex than a simple answer. I encourage you to start a new thread in Behaviour so we can further discuss the situation. :)

Usually they do the pfft noise much more when out. When exploring, after sniffing each other, when pushing my blankets around, etc

Can't do a video right now but I will try later. It's similar to an exhaled sneeze but at half the volume and no physical effort. Almost like a human going "humph" but they don't seem annoyed to me...

Yeah I can't seem to get a video of it or the sound isn't picking up or something. It's like they are saying "tssss" and they all walk around making the noise when they are exploring. They don't do it nearly as much in the cage.

Is it okay to give my girls tissues? They love them but it seemed like it made their poo get fuzzy last time I let them have any.

And is it normal for my 10weekish old rats to have a weight difference of about 25 grams? The bigger one is gaining weight faster than the smaller one but they both eat well.
