then leave it.

Back from the vet.

We have the Cabergoline.

Discussed it with the vet, he agreed after doing research that the Cabergoline was the better option. He just wrote us a prescrition x 8 refils.

For 48 days - 1/2 pill every 3 days ..it cost $100.

So we will still have her on the pred + baytril (every day) and 1/2 Cabergoline (every 3 days)

Can't wait to hear how it goes :)

Hannah had her first dose tonight.

Crushed half the pill and put it in the apple sauce mix ..she tried a little bit and never wanted anymore, so I added ensure and she ate it ..might have wasted some since it was in the apple sauce :wallbang: I know for next time to just use ensure.

Then I had to give her 0.44 pred (I have the one mixed with flavour so its diluted to half) ..also mixed that with ensure ..she ate it right up.

Then 0.5 or pred in ensure which she ate right up

...so many meds :panic:

I'll be keeping records day by day in here to keep track :D

Day 1(today):
- Very nippy
- falling off edges
- Can clean face without lossing balance but hands are kept low.
- Can clean back half ..falling onto bumb at times.
- Holds food with one hand, balancing with the other.
- Holds Tail up when walking
- Eyes are bright
- Runs around (full of energy)
- Can still get around the double CN with little problem.
- Won't eat blocks, Iv been feeding lab block dust soaked with water and ensure for the past few days once I noticed PT symptoms ..maybe why she won't eat them ..still eats beggies and treats.
- Still drinks out of water bottles
- Weight: 520 grams ..7 days ago weight was 529 grams.

Wow, great pricing... I wonder if it's because it's more in demand.
I too have heard that the Cabergoline is better mostly for less side effects.
Imsomhope this helps.

Thanks everyone :D

I think I may have worded the cost wrong, but maybe not LOL, it's $96 for 16 days ..which equals 46 (month and a half) days because we only give it every 3 days. 8 pills = which equals 16 doses ..but I do agree, much cheaper than what I thought.

I think Jo said in another thread that it would have cost her $400 per month a few years back (compounded). Everyone should bear in mind that drug prices vary by province and there are no or few regulations on veterinary prescriptions and extra charges that pharmacies can tag on. If someone gets a really high quote somewhere, it may worth to shop around.

Oily?

The brand name of the one I have is Dostinex.
The pills are scored.

Lilspaz, hwo do you soak your pills in water ..I just crushed half the pill last night, but Hannah got a taste of the lil pieces and it was very difficult to get it into her mixed with the apple sause mix ..so I figure soaking it in water and adding ensure will be easier.

I use one of those flat bottom chinese spoons, put a wee bit of water in it, crack the pill in half, put it on its side in the bitof water, walk away for about 5-10 mins. Come back, swirl the spoon and its dissolved. Put a wee pinch of baby cereal on top, a bit of ensure for extra yum, put the spoon on the floor and she goes to town :)

Just thought I would let everyone know Hannah is still doing well.

Her first does of the Cabr was only 2 days ago, her second does will be tomorrow.

It's too soon to see any major improvments yet, but I can see that she is already starting to!
