Just another thing that crossed my mind.... I know you wouldn't be able to remember which of yours you'd handled particularly before they got sick Jo, but can you remember if you were specifically handling each of mamarats kids that got sick shortly before they got sick?
Just wondering if there could be some kind of bacteria in your place nowhere near your kids but somewhere that your hands come in contact with and is transferred, as mamarats kids recovered and some of yours didn't maybe it could be because with your kids the transfer was sooner after you'd touched the bacteria therefore transferring more of it? Not everyone getting sick could sure be explained by an immune system weakness in the ones that were affected.

If that were so maybe you could figure out what you'd touched before kids got sick but haven't touched in 2 1/2 weeks?

I know I'm reaching but that's where everyone is at with this thing isn't it?

We are definitely at that point.
I did touch all the sick rats, I'm the one they call when a rattie is sick. I did wash my hands after. As far as what else I touched, there's no way I can remember that. My memory sucks so bad.

We are doing all our cages with bleach and toys and surrounding area. I hope this will help!

If hard work and expensive testing and heartfelt hopes & prayers can do anything then it's gonna be ok.
I know you've wrung yourselves inside out there paying for tests and watching every move you make and laying awake at night trying to figure it out and finally sterilizing everything you could get your hands on (and so much more than mentioned).
Nobody else would go to greater lengths for their kids cause there are no more lengths to go to than you've gone.
I believe it's gonna be ok now. I can't pray any harder but I can keep the prayers up.
You're the best human parents those kids could have on this earth.
I guess I just want to say

Hard work is for sure. Yesterday, we clean and bleached and scrubbed for over 5 hours. Thank god Nic was with me to help. I would have cried.

No signs of bleeding at my place. It's been 3 weeks!!! We have been so careful now, we try to not go to each others apartments for fear of transmitting something. :noway:

Oh my goodness! Do you have to do this every weekend?

No, we did a majour clean up for this time only... but we will be more diligent for our regular clean up. I might be doing this huge one once a month, if the illness returns.

Thank goodness! :joy: I can't help but think of him as 'Henry the Happy' He hasn't shown a sign of feeling ucky thru all this has he? He's gonna/gotta be just fine! Would you sneak in a kiss for me next tme you're lovin' on him?

Bad news! This bleeding mystery has now reached my apartment. :( This morning I found blood in my oldies cage. And it's confirmed that my beautiful Simon is peeing blood. I am crushed. I really thought that my babies were safe down here. What's new is that last Saturday, I took in 6 of mamarat's baby girls from the 3 litters. I wonder if they are carriers. :gaah: But they are such sweet, sweet babies!

On the good side, Simon is still feeling good despite being old at 31 months old. He's got rear end degeneration and some sniffles. But still in good spirits.

We are all extremely disappointed. And we did think of bladder infection, actually praying that it is, but he was already on Baytril, so not sure if that should have stopped any UTI. He's still his usual self which is good news. There isn't that much blood. It's just like Henry so far. Henry still has some bleeding, but it's not much and he's still a very happy boy.
