His cheeks are not swollen, ack!

The tumor was pulling his skin down around his whole face, when he had that tumor on him, his mouth was always open because it was so heavy ..the "sweeling you see" is actually loose skin! He is still on metacam, and it looks no worse ..it's the way he is laying down in these pictures, the first two days of pics were not of him laying down with the skin pushed up!
I have poke and felt over his cheeks, I can reasure you that it is not swollen.

ETA: if you had something that was 300 grams hung off your chin, your face would be misformed too. Also I would like to add the stiches are healing quiet well, no redness or swelling. He is much more active today, eating well, cleaning his face, etc.

Multiple people have commented and thinks it swollen, and each time I have explained myself. Other people agree with me that it is extra skin. I am 99.9 percent sure that it is extra skin, I have a post op check in 4 days so I will get my vets opinion then.

ETA: in person it looks alot better btw!

I thought when you have a bruise ....black and blue (yellow too) it gets worst before it gets better. I mean he had dramatic surgery done on him so wouldn't it be natural for it swell a bit before it goes down? When humans get get their tummies tucked, breast enlarged or smaller...etc theres always swelling.

Nah, I think he looks the same as right after surgery! He looks like he has chipmunk pouches. LOL
He is obviously feeling great because he's laying right on the incision in that picture. It seems as though he's making a great recovery!

I love this one.
My fav too Momma he looks SOOO comfy laying his head down ..all the way down.

I can't imagine how wonderful it must be simply to watch him discover all the things he is capable of doing again. I would be mesmerized by the sight of him just taking it all in.   You are wonderful, my dear.

You'll notice that the people commenting and worrying a bit are the more experienced people with surgeries, who have see similar things dealt with, and are the ones who told you that it wouldn't be too difficult a surgery, that it was just large. It just doesn't look "right" to us so we worry. Ryder is a doll, and deserves a lovely long life.

sorry guys, I know your worries help! but im doing everything I should. Giving metacam, giving baytril, he is acting fine, eating well and his cheeks don't feel swollen ..he dose have to go back to the vet on Weds for a post op check anyways, so the vet will reasse him then!

Thanks Ollie :hugs:

What else can I do? his face feels like loose skin ..not swollen. When I touch his cheeks there is no pressur like there would be with swelling.

I'm not sure what else I should be looking for?

You guys say it don't look right ...

Cheeks feel like loose skin, not puffy like swollen, I can touch his cheecks with no pulling away or pain.
Incision looks great, no reddness, swelling or smell.

We can only go by the pictures. So really, you know how it's going because you are right there and see it completely. If it feels right to you, then leave it, especially if he's acting perfectly normal. :)

I just want to make sure I am not over looking anything. It feels normal to me, it dose not feel puffy like its swollen ..I push and there is no resistance or protest. Eating, acting fine.

But if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. I always want whats best ofr my babes!

I can just say what I'm feeling, and like I said it dose not feel swollen and when I touch there is no pressure ..but them again I am not experienced with swollen cheeks :giggle:

Should I be doing something just in case? he will be going to the vet Weds AM for a post op check!
