When she's closer, remove all hammocks and shelves. What bedding do you use? Add extra protein to her diet and lots of good healthy foods.

We know your two new boys have the lice, but trust us - the minute you brought them into your house they spread it to every rat you have or brought in after them until you treat them with revolution.

this is why quarantine is important... honestly surprised no one mentioned yet. are you quarantining new rats at all?

She gained 12 grams today and is starting to chew the hair off of one nipple. I took out the bedding and put fleece and fleece strips in there for her. I am starting to get nervous! :stupid:

Awww one of our new girls gave us 10 little surprises yesterday! I hope her sister isn't preggo too... Definitely nerve wrecking but I am sure that everything will work out

I used paper towel, paper type bedding (boxo in my case) and fleece strips. Too big of fleece pieces and the eepers could get separated from the litter.

She only gained 5 grams today. I think we have a week left? She was impregnated 2 weeks ago and has been with me for 1.

Only 3 grams today. Is she just growing like a normal baby? (I am just trying to hope she isn't really pregnant....) She has the same little round belly and it hasn't gotten bigger. Whats the normal weight put on during pregnancy??

I think it really depends on the age and how many babies momma has in there.. With our naked girl I barely notice her belly get bigger but she just had two babies and with our new girl and our original girl I saw significant weight gain and belly growth but they had 9&10 babies.. I'd just keep weighing and watching and keep her in baby safe cage until her 3 weeks are up..

if she's pregnant, how far along would she be?
I believe I've read that some pregnant rats lose a tiny bit of wt just before they give birth

there's also the possibility that at some point the pregnancy will fail, and the babies will be re absorbed into her body, not sure if anyone mentioned that

I think it happens more with very young mothers and/or very old ones

Also need an answer so I will just ask it here, my Petco boys have a resp. infection again! I need something hardcore to knock this out! They have been battling this thing for a long time, and have been given baytril for it more than once. It goes away for a week and then comes back. Would Amox work?

how old are the boys? have you tried zithro and doxy?
how long were they on the baytril and at what dose? maybe the dose wasn't strong enough?
sorry I haven't been keeping track of the meds part

amox tends not to work as well from what I've heard, but then my vet used to only prescribe TMZ which rarely worked at all
