Does he get to come home tonight? Or do you get to go visit him today if he's not?

No he will stay there again, but since its Dr Munn's day off, he will feed him and make sure he's okay. I told him how he liked to be patted, and he will do that as well. He actually shoved the vet tech aside when she was feeding him this morning, so he could finish it up. :)

Lafeber’s Emeraid diets ..is that avilable to the public?

good Luck Little Man

That diet sounds really interesting... definitely good to know that there's an option like that out there.

Poor, poor Zeus to have meningitis! No wonder he's feeling icky... here's to him feeling loads better today!

sigh, when I first read your update I thought things were looking in the clear, so I was definitely sad to see that he's still in the danger zone. Fingers, toes & tails crossed on our end. Hopefully he'll be feeling better with the latest treatments.

the diagnosis of meningitis, really does explain a lot "infection of the nervous system" explains a lot of those strange symptoms to me. The chlorpalm is the best antibiotic to penetrate tissues that the other abs won't (like the central nervous system).

I am still researching the other meds mentioned and researching this in dogs. Hard to do with a ton of managers around.

That's too cute!! I can just see that little paw pushing the tech away while he's trying to eat!

Actually my vet is the one who shoved his tech aside to finish feeding Zeus :wink2:

BUT there's been almost no real response to things today, and he's now at the syringe feeding stage. Although he grooms himself afterwards.

::gentle hugs::

Meningitis is such a tricky thing... I didn't even realize that rats could get it... although logically, they would physically be able to. Is Meningitis at all contagious in rats?

I think sometimes, because he asked me if any of my other rats were sick. And since Thomas lives with him and is ridiculously healthy, we ruled that one out.

Zeus is a bit brighter this morning, he is actually able to hold his head up now...before this he had his head resting on the ground as he sat/lay in a hunched posture, like a half-*** head sleep position.

so we are taking this a moment at a time.

I really don't like Michelle the vet tech. I told her about talking to Dr Munn about what he was on, and she was insisting he was never on any of those things. She can talk a little condescendingly, and I will take Dr Munn's words yesterday over her today. Michelle told me he is only on chlorpalm, doxy and metacam.

I'm glad to hear he has rebounded a bit. Is Dr. Munn on today so that you could confirm Zeus's meds? I would assume that the vet tech would be administering most of the meds, so if she said he's getting X, then maybe that's what she's giving him.

I too would run that by Dr. Munn when you can, simply stating that you'd like to verify the meds being used, because you're confused that the vet tech is telling you something different than what you heard from her. That should be a tactful approach, as any of us would want to make sure we are following what treatment is being provided.

Hang in there hun. :hugs:

This morning Zeus had to be syringe fed, but when I called for an update at 1:45 pm, he was eating pablum all by himself and eating quite a bit of it too...baby steps, but these are much better than none. :joy:

He is not out of the woods by any means, and this is just a glimmer of home, but I will take it! He will likely stay at the clinic til tomorrow night or possibly Saturday. Dr Munn will not let him go home until he is sure he is recovering.
