Sharlees? Where do you live? do you want me to come by and see if there's an easier way to get Olive to take her meds? I syringe it into them and have gotten pretty good at getting it into squirmies :) Maybe watching me do it will help you figure out a method for your own medicating madness?

I don't mind dropping by (I love my Metropass) and can even come by after work today (I work on Spadina near Kensington Market)

Also, go back to eli's thread...his got infected after surgery because there was just too much bacteria in there and it wasn't all flushed out. It resolved really well after the nasty scab came out, so do not despair.

I live near Coxwell/Danforth Aves.
That is SO nice of you to offer!! :hugs:
Unfortunately I am sick though. :(
House looks crappier than I do.
I will try the pate, mayo and syrup. today.
I would love to have come for tea and to see Olive.
Next week?
You could show me other ways to get her to take her meds.
  Thanx for helping.

How about getting a heads-up for next week's class? I remembered Shelagh posted a video this summer on how she does it... :wink2:

And if all she will eat is her blocks, how about mushing some and putting the meds in?
.

Thanx for the thread. :hugs:
Olive won't eat it.
I tried that and she tries to bury it.

Tried giving it to her with Nesquik strawberry syrup?

I realize I might have repeated something there - or you could put a drop of meds at a time onto peach/strawberry/banana puffs, she might not mind too much when there's a treat involved.

I had dropped or in this case dripped (literally as it was pouring out and I had forgotten my brolly) by to visit Sharlees tonight and all her lovely ratkids. We did some syringing meds into rats training and I am happy to announce Olive will have met her match LOLOL

It was wonderful meeting all of you!!! Give that Taylor boy a kiss for me.

My experiences with Chlorpalm have always involved a lot of resistance from rats, I think because it causes some stomach upset. If you have probiotic yogurt in the house, it may be helpful to give her some between doses to settle her stomach a bit.

Olive is a squirmy little complainer :giggle: 8 ...and the chlorpalm is the concentrated one of 100 mg/ml which makes it taste even nastier :)

I am glad she is going to get it now even if she dont like it. It amazes me how they will take it the first time, then they learn that is foul tasting and will fight with every ounce of fight they have. She sounds a bit spunky anyway so i am sure meds is not a fun time with her LOL

Sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner.
My computer isn't working and I am sharing Stacey's computer.
Olive is well on the mend and as Shelagh mentioned the wound tends to look worse before it gets better.
The smell is gone and Olive is busy running around the cage bossing and mad grooming like usual.
I wil hopefully be able to take a picture of Olive if she holds still long enough.
Thanx for all your support!! :cuddle:
