I hope you are both sleeping. Watch Olive for signs of discomfort and even if its well before 24 hours give her some metacam. She's just had a pretty invasive surgery and I have given metacam 12 hours later.

Olive must be really drugged up.
She keeps chewing the fleece blanket the stopping mid chew falling asleep.
she even licked her meds off my finger!!
Definitely not "normal" Olive behaviour.
 Poor sweet girlie.

Did they give her burephorinone-or-whatever-it-is - the one that has pica as a side effect?

ugh. Just looked it up - Buprenorphine - how could I get a name so mangled?! Before I did a Google search for analgesics in rats, I typed in my mangled word... the closest thing was an anti-schizophrenia drug. >.<

She was given Metacam for pain and Chloramphenicol Palmitate to kill the infection.
I'm so tired It's took me ages to spell the meds right.
So far Olive is doing way better than me.

They probably gave her a buprenorphine injection during the surgery. I am so glad its all over for both of you, now you can just get on to the business of healing

Olive is sleeping a little more than usual but that's fairly normal.
She's enjoying her cereal and is loving her cuddles.
Her wound is weeping a little and it looks a bit swelled up.
Fought like usual not wanting her meds.
I will see how she does tomorrow with company in the lower level of the C.N.
I  my feisty, sweet & sometimes cuddly girlie.

Have you given her Metacam? She'll hate you for it but it'll reduce the swelling it. Just keep smelling it to make sure the infection doesn't come back.

Dr Munn sent Olive home with Metacam for pain.
The wound looks a little weepy but no smell thank goodness!!
Poor Olive gets startled easily though so I have to make sure she hears and sees me.

Oh yeah I made the mistake of trying to pick up one of my one eyed kids from this blind side. I got bit. So I always make sure they know I am there.

Olive has a toothpick sized hole where her eye was removed. :gaah:
The smell is worse.
Trying to get the meds into her is such a pain.
All the foods that my other rattakisses  Olive hates.
How any girl of any species HATES chocolate I'll never know.
Dr. Munn has upped her dosage of her Chlora... stuff.
If by Monday she is still stinky Olive will have another antibiotic added.
She doesn't like ensure
baby cereal,
puddings,
Apple sauce...
Any ideas? before I send Ms.Picky Pants packing with her rhinestone suit case?
Trying to also keep an eye on Miss Myah and Leila as well as the others is stressing me out. :thud:
Help needed please.
