Monte Got yet ANOTHER abscess by his penis graphic images

When we were putting the kids back in I felt something weird when I picked up Monte. At first I thought he just had poop stuck to him or something. But when I looked I saw a massive scab right beside his penis.

I think it was an abscess. We picked the scab to make sure there was no puss in side it and there isn't but it's a massive hole. It's right beside his Penis the poor boy. Ang also said when she was holding him that it smelt really bad, an odour of infection or something but not overly strong.
We cleaned it out with Saline but I'm wondering if there's anything else we should do for him where it's beside his penis? I don't have any baytril here but I do have Doxy and metacam. He doesn't look to be in pain but is sooky from having us poke and prodding at him.

After scab was picked and cleaned. There was grey type matter in there. I'm thinking though it is part of him. It didn't look like thick pus.

Do you think he should go to the vet to get baytril or should he be fine if we just keep cleaning it and let it heal?

:sad3: That looks really deep... I would have it looked at if you can afford it. I don't know if doxy would help but I don't think Polysporin would hurt. Just make sure you don't end up leaving the wound moist all the time.

Oh my yeah that looks bad. But sometimes things look so bad and they come out great in the end, but like Victoria said if you can get him checked i would.

I think if it was a abscess or if you think it was one that poly is not good for it as you want abscesses to heal from the inside out and poly will heal outside before inside so then the abscess would just come right back in time.

My first thought was abscess but I am not sure looking at the pictures. I would clean it with saline solution but not put anything else on it.

Yeah I knew not to put poly on it. I'm thinking it was an abcess that poped the way it looks. The scab didn't scab over and we cleaned it out again. It doesn't seem to be hurting him any.
Looked a lot better today and was no smell. I'll get Velma to take a look at him when she gets here.

It might be a good idea to put him on Baytril or something. Poor guy.

When Vixxie's boy Boe had his neuter and wouldn't leave it alone it caused a large opening like that. My vet just gave me some surgical iodine to put on it. Took a long time to heal but did heal up nicely.
I hope Monte heals up clean and tidy like Boe did

Monte had his neuter done a long time ago almost a year now. So I dunno what this could be from. I get him an appointment. The earliest she can see him is Tuesday so we'll just keep it clean till then poor guy.

Sorry lindsay not saying its from the neuter just that I had something similar due to a neuter. In anycase my vet just gave me the iodine and it worked.

ohh lol I guess I read that wrong. I hope all goes well at the vet too. poor boy.
This is what it looks like today. Velma said it looked a lot like what her friends boy went through and turned out to be cancerous and not an abcess. So hopefully Dr. Gallon can find that out for us.

I hope that is what it is......But a friend of mine's rat had something very similar....and it was cancer of the genitals.....very aggressive. They operated a few times but eventually had to euthanize...... :sad3:

Owie owie owie that's some abdominal wall showing there D8 Reminds me of when Axel's surprise abscess burst in a similar spot but not as close to his penis luckily >< He went on meds and we kept it clean and it healed over wonderfully, hope his nasty injury does too! Poor Monte...

:hugs: Hope it's an abscess. On the brighter side of things. I had one look like that and it was an abscess. Here's hoping that's what it is for Mr. Monte.
