WOAH!!! That is totally not the same rat as yesterday. Her eye does look a little :? does it look like it is working 100%?


I am glad she has made such a significant recovery already

My goodness look at here now!!! She a fighter if I ever met one (like Nanny) I know she'll be great and just continue to get better even if the trip is a little bumpy!!!

I think Iris is NOT a morning rat. :laugh4:

She improved all day long and was sooo happy to be home she ran around the couch...I even saw a hop! Today I got licks for scratching that itchy neck and back, and tonight she is more energetic and agile than ever before :thumbup:

Where is little Iris?

Eating with a lot of dexterity

Trying to climb UP things/me, etc

The eye is looking a little better tonight, I am using a medicated ointment on it. The smell from her ear is a LOT less noxious as well. :joy:

Hehehe, I'll tell her tomorrow...I didn't mean to, but I ended up passed out on the couch with her, Valora and Moggy. I remember vaguely waking up and Iris crawling up onto my neck and sleeping there...when I finally woke up, I found Iris sleeping...she's a very sound sleeper, and I am learning not to worry about HOW she is sleeping. :cheeky:

Such a deep sleeper, she kept sleeping in my hand

The the switch turned on and she's awake in seconds

Well, I saw a new post and of course I had to read it. I put my finger on the mouse and fliped on the wheel and ended up on the first picture........I'm not going to even tell you what I thought :wow4: Don't scare me like that, I'm getting up in age and something could happen! :ambulance:
She is so cute and must put a major smile on your face...you lucky rat!!

The first photo is a bit disconcerting. She looks amazing in the later ones. I think I would have a daily heart attack with a rat who slept like her.

Well it seems its one step forward, two steps back with Iris. This morning she had an ear full of dried and some fresh blood...I am praying she just scratched it open. I will leave the blood until its well clotted underneath before I attempt to clean her up.

BUT she did eat a lot of her cooked oatmeal, banana, peanut butter and soymilk breakfast. She was only able to eat watery baby cereal before so these are her first attempts at more solid food. : :joy:

Iris reminds me ALOT of my former beloved girl Kamea who was taken from me at only 21 months of age.

I said this to a friend at the beginning, but they didn't agree...

Well you tell me? Kamea was my Bed rat...she was awesome to sleep with, she would lie inside her pillow cave and crawl on her belly to me when I was awake for belly rubs (on her back) and strokes...she would also crawl up onto my neck after the first alarm went off, and if I hit snooze too many times she would lick my chin until I got up. :lol: Kamea was healthy whereas Iris is not...

Kamea was a feisty little thing, but I think Iris, although a quieter girl, is more determined overall, especially to get better. :mrgreen:

She cleaned up her ear pretty well, and the smell of infection is even less now

What a litter trooper and boy.......big resemblance between Iris and Kamea. I hope the ear was a combo of scratch/drainage and continues to heal. Eating is good. :bunnydance: Slow process, but she's coming along. :joy: Keep going little Iris.
