Well I have a "new rat" tonight One that can eat baby cereal and Ensure out of a dish all by herself! One who bobbles around up on her toes-ish rather than dragging along by her belly. One that is much happier and brighter than this morning even. She does have a funny little head wobble at times though, especially when she's just woken up. :heart:

like you i really doubted she would make it when i first saw the pictures of her and heard how bad off she was, but look at her NOW! so bright and determined and so full of life! she warms the soul just looking at her now. she was do dim and distant before but now... well the change is just amazing. i may not be the best of judges and she does have a ways to go yet, but i think she's going to pull through just fine and live a very long and happy ratty life! :thumbup: great nursing job lil!

Last night Iris slept in the hospital cage ON my bed...I couldn't take the chance of her going walkabout. :roll: She figured out the cube very fast and was drinking out of a small waterbowl on her own.

This morning she is tired, and wobbly. She only drank 3 cc's of the ensure/cat food mixture...and got her 5 cc's of RLS (ringer's lactate solution) and her dex. I am praying she's just not a Morning Rat...she seems to improve a lot after she's woken up.

Last night I had her on the couch with Mogwai, Molly and Valora...and I found her lying with her head over Valora's back...sooo sweet! Moggy would cuddle up to her sometimes and Molly just ran LOL.

She was even scratching with a hind leg, biting on the toenails and scratching again...a good sign! But maybe it was all too much for her body all at once. She's been sick for a long long time, and will have these periodic regressions, when she overdoes it. Like a person who had a long, virulent flu, it takes a while to recover.

I will pick up more Ensure on the way to work, and feed her soon after I arrive.

You can still see the presents of mycoplasma in her little eyes and nose even after tons and tons of TLC. That just shows how extremely sick she really is. She looks so sad in the first 2 pics, but you see in the 3rd, how Iris has turned her little head in the direction of her guardian angel's finger :heart: It's amazing how these little creatures know, who really loves them.
