So what do you do when they start to chew on the plastic trays? I put fleece down but they chew through the fleece and into the tray? I have plenty of chew things for them. Wood blocks, sticks, hamsteroids, foam blocks etc.

I have the same problem. My pan is about ready to fall apart. No matter what I try to cover the pan with, no matter how many chew toys I give them.. They just move everything out of the way so they can chew the tasty FN pan. I'm going to replace it soon with a home-made coroplast one, since I know they don't enjoy chewing it. I don't know what it is about those FN pans.. rats love to destroy them

The FN pans aren't very heavy duty, since ferrets generally aren't that big on chewing plastic.

Poor Shelagh [lilspaz] had her Horde of 13 demolish the bottom pan soon after she got her cage.

You could try getting some corplast and making your own pan. I've seen several people who have done this, to allow for real bedding instead of fabric.

My older guys started to chew theirs but it's not bad. They just stopped chewing. Phew!

But if I were to lose my pan, I'd go with the coroplast.
