considering your vet wanted you to give a full syringe, yeah its alot. I personally never start at the extreme high end, and start in the middle for neuro issues so I can go up if necessary. I would dose at .35 cc's every day.

 

Where we don't know if this is neuro related, I am going to stick to what he has told me high dose for three days, then middle dose for three days (at the doseages you gave me) ..I will be seeing him in 6 days anyways ..So I will then figure it out from there.

There has to be some reason he is dosing higher first.

Figured I would post some info Lilspaz gave me:

if oral solution of 1mg/1ml then give 0.25ml to 1 ml/lb

AND I pulled up the MSDS sheet on pred and checked the oral LD50 for rats...

Oral Rat: Dibasic Calcium Phosphate: LD50: 3.986 mg/kg
Microcrystalline Cellulose: LD50: > 5 grams/kg

Your vet is dosing at 3.4 mg/kg

So I wont be using the 1ml for three days then 0.5 ml for three days ..due to the above

but I will be using 0.65 ml and 0.3 ml !

That is scary stuff... anyone else would have followed their vet's dosage.

 

I called him and ask if he was sure about the 1 ml dose (this was before I seen the above) ..he said he was aware it was high but wanted to start off higher ... dont think he relized this though!

Have you told him that he's potentially overdosing rats on pred?

 

He was gone for the day when I found this out, I will be notifying him on Monday.

 

Sophie just had an odd poop ...it's alot ..some very dark, some rather light ..light ones are normal size but rather soft ..dark ones are smaller, not as soft ..she was just sitting there pooping for the longest time ..she never squinted like the other day at the vet.

Could this just be from all the ensure, babyfood, watermelonm and olive oil?

She hasnt eaten many blocks ..but I think thats from me offering other foods ..should I just stop offering other foods. Last night I just had water and blocks in with her, and she ate half of an extrusion cube.

She is also eating spring mix atm

Well she is thinner ..she used to be 350 grams, now shes at 298 grams ..although the past two days her weight has stayed the same

I know that she's been losing weight But these are the first pictures I have noticed it really.

 

It's very noticeable

52 grams is a lot of weight
But shes still happy, active and eating ..right now, that's all that matters, hopefully the meds will help!

 

Bought Sophie Baby Microwave Dinners Today - Today I gave her the Chicken, Pasta & Pea one, she loved it!
