how would you stop her from pulling at them wouldn't it be second nature for them to pull at the stiches or staples???

Are her stomach ones just as high from the skin as the ones on the back? I cant see her reaching the back staples, but her nails could catch in the stomcah ones... What about tape? medical tape that is? or a gauze wrap? would that intice them to pull too??

Well , when it comes to soft things , she tends to shred it , so tape or gauze might not be the best idea :giggle: She is actually doing really well with the staples. She has managed to avoid them all together. I think in her mind she says , " if I ignore them , then they arnt there!"

I understand how special she is to you, I have some really special ratties too and really I don't include them in how many pets I have :giggle:

Hope you're okay and your girl too :D :D

We are both doing alright thank you. :) Sophee is slowing down a little bit. She doesn't want to take her meds and is acting a little sluggish. I don't think she is in any pain though... just a little tired of having to walk on eggshells. I feel so bad , I had no idea that the incisions were going to look like that :sad3:

To be honest I've never seen stitches like that and it looks quite sore.... I think stitches seem neater but never had had staples. :/

:( hope she feels a little better soon

This might be answered somewhere but I cant find it lol so I'll ask......why does she have an incision on her back? (I thought she was just getting the tumor done and a spay?)

Yes she did only get the tumor and spay , I guess the new way of spaying is going in through a flap on the back of the skin .... they said it was less invasive , doesnt look that way to me though :(

We had a bit of a scare today! I was checking on Sophee and I noticed the lump appeared to be back right in the same incision spot! I was so sure it had grown back and I was going to have to PTS. I took her to the vet immediately (Which they didnt charge me for!! :happydance: ) and it turns out it was just a build up of blood! I was so happy , because that means that the tumor IS NOT back! I am so happy , I hope to have this little girl with me forever! (long shot eh? )

Well Sophee got her staples out today :D Everything is fine and hopefully with a little prayer that will be the last time she needs to have surgery :D She is very happy to be back in the big girls cage and everything is slowly going back to normal :happydance:

Why would she be pts if the lump had grown back?

Because if it had grown back withing one week there would be no point in taking it out once a week. Therefor , I couldn't just let the thing grow so eventually ( probably less than a month) I would have had to PTS. :gaah: But luckily it didn't!
