So Sophee is having her surgery today? Good luck Sophee!
 yes she is in as we speak , I get to go get her soon! I am so excited to see my baby! I will post before and after pics of her tumor too

Hi everyone! Well , Sophee is home now and she made quite the impression on everyone at the vets! They didn't want to see her leave she was so nice to everyone :giggle: She is recovering well , a little tired but she is eating and drinking like nothing happened. I will post pictures soon. I am so grateful for everyone's support here . I really appreciate it. :hugs:
I did have one question. I know she isn't supposed to nibble the staples ( they used staples instead of chewable stitches) but is it okay if she licks it? I don't see how I can stop her , she just wants to clean it. If anyone who has gone through this knows please let me know :D

Sophee is doing well today. She is a bit sleepy but she is acting more like herself :D She spit out half of her antibiotics this morning
Here are some pics of her recovery

She has another bigger incision on her stomach but I didn't want to lift her to get a pic just yet.

By this time next week, you won't even know anything happened.
Healing vibes for Sophee. :hugs:

I was wondering about that , they said I have to wait 2 weeks to get the staples removed? Wont everything be all grown in by then?

5-7 days is better for rats, because they heal so fast when they remove the staples later than that, they are actually making more of a mess since its healed over.

Did they send you home with pain meds like metacam?

Yes they did give us Metacam for her. I knew that 2 weeks was too long , I mean, the one on her back is already healing so quickly! Should I call them and tell them that 2 weeks is too long? Maybe bring her to him in to prove that it is healed?

Just keep an eye on those staples, once she appears to be pulling at them and trying to get them out, you might want to take her back in for removal.

If you aren't sure that the pain meds are working, just PM me and I'll work out a dosage for you if you need it :D

Our vets have never used stitches and I can see some of mine ripping them out, 3 of my girls (from the same family) rip their stitches out including the stitches under the skin... staples would be easy for them to grab and tear out!

She could be thinking "staples? The doc put STAPLES in me?"

That was my thought when I woke up after surgery and saw staples.

Wishes for a speedy recovery!

I am so happy to see and hear she is doing great... :happydance:

As for the staples... rats could be viewd like human babies in regards to thier curiosity. Babies would pull them and so would the ratties. Keep an eye on her and the incision to make sure there is no infection.. I dont see the vet having an issue if you choose to book an appt 7 days after surgery just for a looksie..

Sending healing vibes for a fast recovery
