Possible bummble foot?

Nero’s foot is nearly healed; I kept up the salt soaks and blu-kote. The cut that formed is gone and the inflammation is down at least 70% things look good, it’s still going to take a few more weeks before his foot is 100%.

There are several factors that cause it. One is a cut on the bottom of the foot that gets infection, another is the rat being over weight like mine he also pushes his bedding away and sleeps on the plastic which caused the area to get inflamed and that’s when it started. Im also happy to say his fur is thicking up on the back of his neck, we got a lice treatment from the vet for both of them and his scratching has nearly stopped allowing the hair to grow back, YAY!

There is also a genetic component, with some rats just being prone to it.
