I dunno about in Canada, but I know here in the states, Veterinary offices are not authorized as pharmacies - you cannot receive medications at a vet if they don't have you on file and have not seen your animals. Even with a prescription, you have to go to a pharmacy, or your own vet. We know this because our wonderful vet is over an hour away, but there is a vet that doesn't see exotics a couple of blocks away from us, and we can't get antibiotics or revolution there, our vet can't call it in, it's crazy. Might be diff in Canada though. Good luck finding your stuff. =)

It's not a medication but an antiseptic. I don't know if a vet would dispense anything to someone that isn't a client, but it's worth a try.

Well im bring Both my boys to the Vets on Thursday hopfully because i just found out they have lice, bit gross and makes me cring, i dont know how i missed it i honestly dont. But thruesday is pay day and the only time i can get them in so i will inqure about it then.

Different vets have different approaches to treating bumblefoot (it is very stubborn) so it may be a good idea to write down Littledevil's suggestions from the thread so you can get them. If it were me, I'd also get Metacam because it can be pretty painful as well. (Ask for the expiry of your Metacam - it has a really long shelf life and you'll want to know what it is if you end up with leftovers.)

Well I’m still not sure if its bumble foot or an infected cut. I have been following what it has suggested, I took out their aspen bedding and changed it to fleece, cut their nails and I’m doing the Epsom salts three times a day. He is really good with it, he just sit on my lap as I do it which is how I found the lice, the bright lights of the bathroom and my habit of fidgeting while bored. I started playing with his fur and noticed the brown flakes, then I realized one of them was moving (I nearly freaked when I saw it.) I’m going to the vets on Thursday to get it checked out along with the lice to be treated. Right now the fleece is all I have because I have placed the remaining bag of bedding in the deep freeze for the next three days to kill anything if there is but I have a feeling it’s not from that bag but the last one I bought. Here is a photo i took it a few minutes ago. Sorry the image is bad, Nero wouldn’t stop moving and I didn’t want to put any strain on his foot or leg. As you can see its rather red and inflamed with a whitish circle in the middle, its still kind of small compaired to what i have seen but like said it can get bad quickly.

I does look like bumblefoot but it could very well be an infected cut as well. I'd do an antibiotic, you could soak if you want, I never have and I padded down the cage which... it takes a long time but eventually ours get 90% better.

Yeah it could be either which is why when i go to the vets on thursday im going to get the vet to look at it as well.I rather be safe then sorry and have to go back later.

I went to the vets on their 30th doc said it was the begging of bummble foot but it wasnt infected yet But to keep soaking it and when they call to check up if its not getting better to bring him in for antibiotics.

Cholorhex is also known as Hibiclense in some areas. In veterinary clinics it is primarily used as a surgery scrub. In human medicine it is used as a powerful mouthwash for people with gum disease or surgery. It tastes absolutely disgusting.

You might be able to find Cholorhex at a feed store, because its used for large animals commonly. Also, you can order it online.

Hmmm feed store is out of the question there isn't one around me. I would have to get it online then because when I asked about in the parmacy the pharmacist said it was only Avilable as the mouthwash.

order Blu-Kote then...be prepared for staining..i used the dauber variety and used a Q-tip to wipe it on. Its an antiseptic for large animals/stock and it will dry out the bumblefoot.

It's possible but honestly I feel a bit hesitant in asking. I don't worry about people knowing where I live it's just it's a bit awkward asking people your not familiar with if you could use something if theirs.

I do thank you. The vet said it was caught early and to keep soaking it in Epsom salts and to keep a close eye on it. Healing is slow but it's making some progress but I use some loosely.
