Nibbler seemed a little better with breathing earlier today, and had some energy (as you can see in the video).

Earlier today she fell off the top shelf in her CN. We think she was leaning off the edge and maybe exhaustively fell asleep? Loren rushed over and took her out, she didn't seem phased or injured. We kept her out of the CN with us for hours after that (and even took the video after).

At about 3:30 we left to meet friends for a late lunch. We put Nibbler in a smaller cage so she couldn't get hurt, and put Freya and Badger in there with her for love and snuggles.
We came home a few hours later and they were all sleeping. Loren went to check on her, and she closed her teeth around his finger (it wasn't aggressive, but was hard enough to surprise him). We thought maybe it was confusing because she had just woken up. We brought her back onto the couch and she was fine. Thought maybe she was hungry, but she wouldn't accept any food.

A few hours after, I wanted to have a nap so I put her back in the smaller cage to relax a bit. I woke up about a hour and a half later and went over to check on her. She was clicking a little, so I asked her if she was alright and wanted me to get the bathroom all steamy for her. She bit me.

Again, I thought maybe I surprised her, so I opened the door and talked to her a bit and put my hand inside but didn't approach. She turned and aggressively attached to my finger, drawing blood. I couldn't get her to let go - I dragged her about a foot.

I now can't get near her to feed her or give her medication. I... don't know what's going on. She's acting strange.

EDIT: She seemed scared/almost shocked when she bit Loren the first time. Almost like "omg did I just bite you? wtf was I thinking?" but I don't see any Nibbler I've ever known in those little marble eyes tonight.

EDIT 3:49 AM
Loren tried to give her more food. She took it, threw it to the side and then lunged at him. Vet is only open until 2pm tomorrow and not at all on Sunday. Called them a few minutes ago for an emergency appointment tomorrow. (as in later today. "tomorrow" doesn't start until I've slept.)

EDIT 9:00AM
Scheduled vet appointment for 11AM...

Good luck at the vet. They sometimes bite when they're in pain, she really has trouble breathing in the video. Poor baby.

I have a strong feeling we won't be coming back with her. :sad3:
I've been laying by her cage (I haven't slept all night) and she can barely move without falling.

Trying to keep hopes up but...

She is having so much trouble getting air into those lungs that she's afraid when you hold her she won't be able to breathe at all, so she bites in her panic. that is my take on why she is doing this. I am sorry but I don't think you will be bringing her home either. Let her go with love and end her suffering. I am so very sorry she wasn't able to fight back, but her body looks like its had enough of this fight. (((hugs)))

So sorry to hear what you've been going through. I wonder if she has a neurological problem, given that her breathing did not respond much to the antibiotics and given that she is not at all her normal self.
