I will probably be taking her in to pts in a few minutes. I fed her again by syringe, but she is mostly motionless. She tries hard to groom herself, but keels over. Very sad.

My dear girl will be with me until tomorrow. I spoke to the on call vet (who is Stella's regular vet) and he thought that we could wait til tomorrow. She took lots of food and fluids and she is more mobile in the cage now.

Is it wrong to hope that she passes snuggled up to you tonight?

Not at all! If the bedroom weren't so cold I would keep her in a carrier next to me tonight.

But, knowing that she has nothing to lose, I tried her on Bromocriptine. You never know-- it gave Cadillac an extra three months.

Are you using a steroid at the same time as the bromo for Stella? That seemed to work best I think.

No, I didn't realize. It's been so long that I had forgotten what I did with Cadillac and Caramel, and they refused Bromo after a couple of days anyway.

Even the Bromo alone is amazing. She took it again tonight, sitting on my shoulder and licking it herself! She is able to groom her front paws and face without keeling over, and she was at the food dish with the others eating baby food.

I am so happy and so grateful -- she is like she was a week ago-- that I am more able to cope with the loss of my dear heart rat, Rilla.

I am very glad that Stella is giving you the good response to bromo you need. Concentrate on each of her miraculous days to distract you a little from your pain ((hugs))

Tonight she is able to pick up a cheerio and eat it for a while before dropping it. She is really steady on her feet and she laps up her Bromo with great speed. It is wonderful. :joy:

Oh I know exactly how you feel. When Issa improved, I was in shock, because it wasn't just an improvement of bad symptoms but a slow return to normalcy that I never saw with the steroid therapy alone. Your heart must feel soo full to bursting right now!

Yes, it feels so miraculous. I know that she will never get back to the way she was a month ago, but if she can be happy and mobile for a little longer it will be enough. She has the spark back in her eyes; she is actually responding much better than Cadillac or Caramel did.
