I have a vet appt for her tomorrow. At the end of the week she seemed clumsy (very unusual for this exceptionally agile 2-year-old) and had a fall. I have been watching her carefully since then, and she seemed confused and more easy for the others to steal food from. Today she shows a slight head tilt, so I was hoping for inner-ear infection. I started her on meds.

But she seems to have very poor motor coordination when eating, although she could lick up her meds with ease. Out of the cage she doesn't seem aware of when she is on the edge and in danger of falling.

This isn't looking good. My poor baby, I've only had her for a few months.

:sad3:

Maybe the 2 falls at the end of the week caused the problem?

Hope meds turn this around, Stella is such a wonderful little rattie girl

The vet thinks it is more likely to be inner ear infection. She seems a little better today than yesterday and, thank heavens, she hoovers down her meds without protest. I have to keep an eye on the little lump she has on one side.

I am sure now that it is PT. She is eating very slowly now -- forever to take her meds. She sleeps a lot, seems confused, and I saw her front legs held out straight in front of her and one of her paws clubbing tonight. She had become dehydrated, so I fed her baby cereal by syringe until she didn't want to eat any more. That's why I am still up on a worknight.

Time to try Dex or Bromocriptine, but I have a bad feeling about this. I don't think she will be with me for much longer. When they can't eat by themselves, there is no quality of life. She falls over when trying to groom herself, too.
