:joy: So glad that she is ok.

Hope that you are able to have her spayed as it helps to prevent many health issues,
and then the two could live together pretty much immediately after the spay.
(With neuters there are fewer health benefits and you need to wait several weeks to ensure all sperm have died before putting rats together.)

Was the vet able to fit her in?
Yes they were and Kaiser is fine and was fine. She's a healthy rattie. There weren't any babies left in her uterus so there was no need to do an emergency spay on her.

As for her lethargic symptoms, she's getting more active each day-no real reasons to worry about her on that. I thought I had said that before but maybe I meant to but didn't on accident.

I'm glad to hear you were able to get her checked out. What method did the vet use to determine that there wasn't anything left in the uterus?

They're not able to feel if there's infection inside the uterus just by touch (unless the uterus is completely filled with pus and is swollen and hard), or even just one or two dead babies.

She needs to see a better vet, I'd think. I wouldn't rule out infection in the uterus yet. I really think that's a probability, and that's why all the babies were stillborn.

At this point I really think the safest and only option is a spay. This way your rats will be able to live with each other as well. It's detrimental to a rat's mental health to be kept alone :(

I am leaning towards getting her spayed as soon as possible. However I may need to have my mother bring her in because school starts up again next week and the only time they do surgery without the extra price is I believe Monday-Wednesday. I would like to neuter Brazil as well at some point, but I don't have that kind of money yet. As for the vet, she comes highly recommended from a few different places. I will keep a note to mention this (possible infection inside her uterus) to her when I get Kaiser in to be spayed.
None-the-less, the sooner we get Kaiser spayed, the sooner she and Brazil can play. :3

Sounds like you are looking after things. I'd probably get her spayed before anything else. This way you'll know for sure then if all is 100% ok with Kaiser.

That's my plan but I'll need to speak with my mother about her bringing her into the vets to get her spayed while I'm at school. I'll keep you guys updated on what happens if you'd like.

Not to say she is pregnant or anything but just a cautionary tale.

My cat was smaller and my vet was old school and liked to wait until 6 months (vets now like to do them super early) to spay my cat. At one point she got out and disappeared but we got her back (the neighbors had found her and wanted to keep her) we thought nothing of it. We brought her in for the spay and the vet did all palpitations and listening for heart beats etc. to make sure no babies. He went ahead with the spay and when he opened her up he found babies and had to abort them. :( I was heart broken. So it just goes to show vets can miss things.

I'm glad to hear your kaiser is doing better and that she has no energy now and its great you are still trying to go ahead with the spay so they can live together :) It really does have a lot of good health benefits.

I would never try to abort any babies, but like others have said, it sounds like there might be an infection in her uterus since all of the babies were still born except one who died for unknown reasons. So basically what my point is is that I doubt there would be any babies alive, if any, in there. But I understand that vets can miss things and I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your cat's litter. That was pretty unfortunate(and that's probably too light of a word).

I need to find some toys that Kaiser will actually play with as well as for Brazil. Neither of them know what to do with the wheel we have (I've had that wheel since we got Kinou, maybe Yuki?). Kaiser's in a two story ferret cage with a wire mesh surrounding the outside (it's completely safe for her, but a huge danger for us when we try to clean her cage. XD) and she only uses the bottom story to eat.

But first things first, I need to get Kaiser spayed and then possibly visit the dollar store (because I'm sure this spay will eat up most of my money) and see what I can find that would be fun for the rats to play with.

(I'm noticing that this is starting to get off topic since the last thing that needed to be said was for her to get spayed as soon as she can and here I'm dragging it on to toys to make them more active; )

Edit: Oh, and thank you all who are wishing well to Kaiser. It's much appreciated.

Definitely check out the dollar store for toys. Many things that I have in my cages come from there. You can make pretty much anything out of stuff from there, you just have to be creative!

For example: you can make a plastic bowl into a hut by cutting a door into it, get some fleece blankets and sew them into hammocks and use shower hooks that you can get there for hangers. The Popsicle sticks they sell can become wood chews and if you have a drill you can drill a hole (CAREFULLY lol! This is an art form I'd say! I can't do it well but... practice) and thread them through some yarn/string (thick string, too tiny is bad) and you have a dangling chew toy. Etc, etc. OH and if your lucky you can find some of the rolling cat treat balls and use them for your ratties. You can put misc. treats (I usually use cheerios) in them and they will roll it around trying to get the treats out. My girls adore this!

Happy shopping :)
