she was being premedicated at 2:44 ready to go in. It's 4 pm and I still haven't heard anything. My brain is flying in a million directions and I cannot concentrate. My poor girl is going be so googly-eyed when I pick her up.
Relief! Please give her lots of kisses for me. Poor sweetie must be so sad without her friend, so I hope that she can soon find another to mend her heart.

Inca and I are home, much faster and smoother courtesty of kestrel09...thank you again Colleen!!!
But Inca was eating way too much of Tria's enriching foods, and was very fat inside which made for a more difficult surgery. The tumour was in an awkward place for an active 3-legged rat so the skin was kept a bit looser to allow for movement.
She is supposed to get baytril, and metacam starting tomorrow, and every 12 hours (starting at 9 pm tonight) she needs to get injectable buprenorphine injected sug-q. Unfortunately this causes the pica behaviour which is mostly fine but for rats who have big incisions not so good. She started chewing and pulling at them and causing them to bleed so poor Inca got wrapped in real vet wrap (courtesy of eagle..hehe). She is unhappy and confused as to why she cannot move around properly, but she is quiet in her cage now, NOT picking and bleeding. My poor Inca.
tried the e-collar I had and it worked great except her stress was horrible and she was still able to chew the incision. It would work for an incision a little closer to her head, and it would stay on.
I ended up fully wrapping her, here she is drinking Ensure, but she's still a very unhappy camper with a compulsion to chew...EVERYTHING.
Oh Inca, please don't chew your sutures out!!!!
Good luck staying awake! I hope she behaves herself or at least gets tired and goes to sleep for a while...
