So How long will I hold off on giving him Pred? since he has had the metacam?
Lucky I never gave him pred this morining, his last pred dose was at 8:30 pm last night.
I will be calling the vets office in a few hours for more pain meds.

My vet recommends 3-5 days between metacam and pred and vice versa but in very rare cases (emergencies) she said 24 hours minimum. I hope there aren't any side effects with Hunter from them being given so close.

I am glad that Hunter seems comfortable. It's a hard diagnosis to handle, but you must be glad to know what he is up against. Let's hope that the Metacam will keep him comfy for a good while.

If you want to offer him his blocks, and meanwhile keep him hydrated, you could always soak some lab blocks in water overnight. Rats love it, and sometimes I have mixed the lab block mush in with the baby cereal for a recovering rat.

Lots of kisses to Hunter.

Update!
Hunter is doing great, he is currently on the couch with me and his brother Toby. He has eaten a good bit of baby cereal (bananna & rice), some cooked peas, a piece of lettus, and some watermelon.

What would the side effects be? just for future reference if needed.

Update:
Hunter is still doing good but seems to be lacking energy, I am assuming this is due to the medication wearing off and him feeling the stiches?
Ate a good bit of banaanna rice ceral this morining and a few peas.
Last night he slept alone in his hospital cage next store to the big cage. This evening his brother will be getting in with him. He seemed kind of bored this morining in a littel tiny cage by himself.

I moved Hunter into a bigger cage today with his brother Toby, he is much happier now.
Ate about 5 table sppons of bananna cereal w/ soy miilk and 3 pieces of watermelon.
I'm gonna try chicken and veggie baby food tonight.

Right after surgery his poops were very dry, starting to get back to normal now though.
He tried some chicken and veggie baby food tonight, along with some fruit cocktail, a piece of lettus, 5 peas and 2 pieces of watermelon and some soy milk

some pics from tonight!

Thanks
His doing good, eating lots of nummies.
Poops were dry since surgery but getting better.
Still not fully energized but thats to be expected 1 day after surgery, he has stitches right up his belly.

Breakfest this morining consisted of Bananna Rice Baby Cereal mixed with soy milk powder & a spoonfull of baby blueberry dessert.
I have wet lab blocks in his cage at all times, but Toby is also in with him and eat's it too, so I am uncertain if he is eating that.
He seems stiff, not moving a whole lot which is understandable do to having his belly cut open.
His stiches are not red or swollen.
His sides don't suck in nor dose his tail drag.
He walks really slow, but will jump on things.

Supper tonight will be cooked mashed carrot and buttery mashed potatos.

Poor guy!! I know what that kinda surgery feels like, I had an emergency c-section myself, and it took me weeks to even be able to sit up without pain! He's one strong little man, sending hugs to you both <3
