Are you SURE the concentration is 25mg/ml? Because mine is 50 mg/ml.
I just figured it was her 'thing' kind of. Her sister Eloise never did it, and they spent their entire lives together. Grurder would always make little snuffles and peeps, but there were never any abnormal sounds in her lungs or anything, and even then, it wasn't a constant thing, only when she was really happy to be getting attention or treats. I even asked my vet when I took her in, and he said he could find nothing wrong with her and that if she'd been doing it for so long it may just have been her.victoria said:Exodog said:Grurder used to make these sounds her whole life. It was usually when we'd approach the cage, or she would get a shoulder ride or treat, etc.
She started at about 4 months with this kind of thing, and it never proved to be anything more than excitement. She was just a 'talker'.
Don't know if this is the same for your lady, that's just my experience with these noises.
Rats don't talk. If Grurder made those sounds her whole life it means she was somewhat congested that whole time. I agree that you should see if there's something irritating her breathing and see if it will go away on its own, otherwise take her to the vet to get abs if she keeps making them. If you can, steaming her may help her feel better in the meantime.

10 mg/lb = 0.022 mg/g
Dosage:
0.022mg/g x 537g = 11.814 mg of drug for your rat
Amount to give: (assuming your drug concentration is 25 mg/ml)
25 mg/1 ml = 11.814 mg/ x ml
Solve for x: (cross multiply)
25 x = 11.814
x = 0.47 ml of drug
Can you follow that? I KNEW algebra would be practical!!!!!!
I hope this helps!

Hmm I have always dosed at 10mg/kg (it's what our vet recommends) so it would only be .22mL.
Per Rat Health Care by Debbie Ducommun:âBest reserved for older animals and more severe infectionâ, Baytril 10mg/lb (20 mg/kg) , PO or SQ , BID
