It could very well be a stroke... he's at the age for something neuro to happen to him. He might be blind but that really doesn't matter much to rats since they don't really use their eye sight anyways.
I'd ask the vet to try prednisone.
 
:( Oh no, he seemed to be recovering so well. I hope he's improved enough to let you comfort and cuddle him a bit, and that the vet becomes available to help him feel better. What a hard fight he's having this week -- I'll keep fingers and toes crossed for you. :hugs:
 
It appears to have been a seizure and not a stroke. What I construed as blindness was most likely confusion. I didn't realize that a side effect of Baytril was possible seizures, so for the time being until we can get him into the vet, we have him just on the doxy. He's back again to his chipper self, hasn't bit me since either heh and is enjoying scritches and oodles of attention lol.
