I'm thinking it looks better too. Was it a bit swollen before? It looks like it fits better? or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. lol

Thats kinda what I thought too, and then doubted myself...hehe. It seems like it fits the eye socket better not as bulgy. :)

I can see eyeball shrinkage when I compare the piccies, definitely some improvement going on

Just a quick note to everyone!

I talked to Shelagh yesterday and Bella's eye is looking much, much better! You can see portions of her eye under the.. opaque.. stuff.

As best as I can tell, and from what I've gathered on the net/ratguide, is that Bella received a corneal abrasion during the scuffle. Ratguide suggests using an antibiotic ointment and keeping the eye clean and basically just waiting it out. They also gave a time frame of 1-2 days for minor and up to a week for more involved abrasions. All fo which Shelagh's been doing from the start.

So yay!!! Bella's gonna be okay!

I'm curious to know if Bella has mellowed a bit after dealing with her injury? Is she nicer to you now Shelagh?

That's great news!

I remember a while back, my Oliver had his eye turn white like that, but not looking as thick as Bella's. My vet did the tint test and she could see the cut inside the eye. He was treated with polysporin eye/ear drops and it went away after a couple of weeks.

Yay for Bella!!!

Yaaaay! That looks SO much better. I bet when she blinks now her eyelid actually covers. :D The only think you have to watch out for now is wether or not it seems to be drying out at all. Which it doesn't. It's starting to look how it's supposed to look again! Good stuff, nice job Shelagh. I just KNEW everything would be OK.

I have been taking pics of Bella's eye just in case it can be used on the ratguide. They don't seem to have corneal abrasion or injury case histories. I guess I'll email Karen when I have my internet back at home. :)

Saturday morning, marked improvement

And this morning
You can see the protrusion of the eye but it seems to be more localized not the whole eye.

She is a bit better in how she is behaving with me, but this morning she nipped the fingers in her cage. No biting though :) Old habits die hard.

Wow, what a great improvement in Bella's eye! Lilspaz' TLC wins again!!

:threadjacked: Nickelrats said "wish Wendy's eye would improve..."

What's up with Wendy? She's one of Corrie and Byron's daughters, and her sister Tia from the next litter had to have her eye removed because of glaucoma of unknown origin.

WOW!!! Poor Bella!!! She must have really gotten a full claw in the eye!

Thank God she is healing so beautifully. What glorious animals Rats are. They pick up, and carry on in practically every situation, as if everything were peachy keen.

I hope I am reincarnated as a rat.

I think the best part is That Vet told me that it was not a good prognosis for her, and not to expect it. He told me that they eye was practically gone. He is waiting for my call to tell him she needs to be euthanized. LOL
