That really doesn't look bad at all. If he was furred you wouldn't even notice those. And I wouldn't bathe them either. It's not the smell of him, it's just him having to accept another rat.

I put them on the couch together, Templeton let Toby climb on him a bit. Toby in his normal manner chased him and sniffed him repeatedly and Templeton let him. Dopey was a nervous wreck LOL running as fast as he could to the table by the couch. He didn't have a lot of attitude. A few little nips, but I put them back on the table that they have been in, Templeton saw dopey coming up the ramp to the cage, and went after him with all his fur up. He didn't get a chance to bite him, but dopey was screaming, not just squeaking and almost doing back flips to get away from him, which encourage Templeton to keep chasing him.

Don't separate them now, it will set you back quite far. Those are really minor scratches on Toby.
They'll get used to each other soon enough.

i have been reading to....but I don't have a lot of experience with intros....Jo is by far one of our experts.....
Sounds like things are going good.....

Oh i am not going to separate them, i worked to hard and put you through a lot of reading to get here :)

I just wondered if a new cage would make them act better. or i guess it could go both ways.

It just seems like they go OK, then Templeton puffs up and I wonder if this is the big one LOL

I have decided I do not want to be an expert, I will stick to introducing babies to older males, or all neutered males only LOL.......It was so much easier with the babies than with these two hairless.....

Dahlas at least you have an idea of what to expect now if it does come up for you LOL this has been a play by play introduction thread LOL

Oh ok, I see what you mean about the cage. I wouldn't try the other cage it might send Templeton over the top, too much to protect as his.

This thread will be an excellent reference for anyone looking for insight on intros.

~~~~~Intermission~~~~~~
Please feel free to take a break from this post, get some coffee, bring a rattie to cuddle, you will be here a while!
Are you ready to proceed? Beverage____ Snack_____ Potty Break______ leg stretch_______Favorite cuddle friend_____
LOL yes I am laying off the coffee now. Late, to much energy, and 4 crazy girl rats out here.
Day 16
I am in a lot of trouble then, it is bad enough my two daughters act as i do, I dont need 11 rats doing that too LOL my fiance might go crazy. I am sure I am a bit much to handle with out having that many mini me as well
I wake up and check the boys first. I look for signs of blood in the cage LOL. My fiance tells me they are loud at night, when he comes down he said both cages are fighting and making noises. I guess they act better when I am around.
The hairless are the only ones awake, which makes me happy because they kinda freeze when the haired boys are around.
They looks so happy when they are not around. So they have time to investigate and play while the haired boys sleep the day away.
Loki and Templeton woke up on the wrong side of the cage today. Loki of all rats was getting on dopey. Dopey sounds like a bat when he screams. I dont know what the deal is. Dopey was in a blue basket on the top shelf and it must of really ticked off Loki because he puffed up. I have never seen him puff up at the rats. I can only handle one Templeton LOL so Loki is going to have to chill out.
I think when I get back from my moms, I will take the boys back to the couch for a little bit. Try that I guess. I just wish they would give a little instead of getting worse.
and today i am thankful for my rats that drive me crazy. LOL
Ya, it's normal that it does get worse before it gets better. They'll get used to it. Taking them out for play time is good, get them on a fun routine.
Well this is how dopey was comfortable for the play time
Ignore my pajamas LOL I kinda had the 4 problem boys stuck on the couch when they were being lazy again.
they didnt fight, toby is hell on wheels when he is out. I wanted them to stay in the living room, but of course toby only wanted to break that rule and run towards the dining room, so my daughters laid on the floor to block him. He was all over that floor.
Templeton found the girls cage, and kept running for that, so I put the girls in the other room.
Templeton had a little attitude but not a lot. Dopey cracks me up, he screams, a loud long squeak when they come by him. Loki seems to have lost the attitude he had this am, he is sniffing the boys and so on. Toby was grooming templeton again, but not for very long.
Well, I admit I didn't read the whole 12 pages. Page 1 Oct30 you had 3 sets of 2 boys to intro? last page Nov25 you had 11 kids.. Guess you gained 5 in those pages (4 girls according to this post)? What happened? You found out having them was like tastiing premium chocolate and craved more? Or found out they are tossed away like garbage and wanted to save someone? Yeah, I should have read to find out instead of guessing but that's a lot of reading...
However, being completely ignorant of what's going on with you & your kids and having absolutely nothing useful to contribute I still had to reply.I was wondering how the intro's worked out with the 6. And more intros too?
LOL oh no, no news one :) the 5 girls were not talked about as much since I am having problems with the male intros. I have had the girls for months, some are almost a year old now.
I had (which are all boys) set 1 Loki and Templeton for months, I brought the babies,set 2 ludo and al home about the end of September, I seen an ad for set 3 the hairless, toby and dopey in October sometime, so that gave me 3 sets to intro lol. I got down to only two sets, the ones i am working with now, which is set 1 and set 2, since they got along fine and i spent a few weeks already introducing them, set 3 is not being accepted by the original rats LOL The girls are fine, the only ones i am working on is the boys, which currently is still not going as I want. Templeton doesn't like them in his cage, the other 3 rats from the first sets, are ok, but Templeton is being a bully to the new guys. They are all living in one cage, it is just a bunch of Templeton pushing them around.
No more intros for me after this LOL probably ever, I have 5 girls in one cage, and 6 boys in another. I am done with new ones for a while. But since pika came home, which is the newest girl in the girls cage, the same time ludo and al did, I have been introducing rats since september, I had to wait for the babies to get bigger, to introduce them to our original two boys, they grew, so they moved in LOL now the hairless are in but not without a fight.
Day 17
Well we did more couch time with th 4 boys. There is a lot less attitude on the couch. Dopey still screams and runs, templeton raises up a bit but not nearly as bad as in his cage. I will probably do this again and maybe daily to see if that helps. Templeton still went in the cage and got attitude though
They do, they get a lot of out time, this is just different out time lol. Typically they run around on 2 table and a desk, we have been taking them on the couch to try and convince templeton that is not all that :)
