UPDATE!

Just back from the vet, he said that it could be a possible skin cancer, so were getting him neutered and also getting the spot cut off.

That's what my vet said..he rather remove it all just incase, he said he would hate to see anything happen to Toby (he truly loves him)

What a sweet looking boy! I wish you both luck with the removal , you will feel much better after its gone , even if its nothing :giggle:

^ I figured that this is what it was going to be, could have been worse ..and were not even certain that this is what it is ..but better to remove than to leave it

And even if it is cancer, it still looks like a normal mole, all symmetrical with even borders and even coloring, so it'd be *extremely* easy to remove completely.

Still probably a mole, but why take chances?

yeah rattys arn't worth taking a chance on ..my vet said he hasent seen anything like this before so I best bet is just to remove it.

My vet told me he thinks its a melanoma ..could be benign or not benign ..it's actually not as dark as it looks in the picture, or as big ..wish my boy luck ..his surgery is booked for Feb 5th.

Jani had a melanoma on her ear. As it started to grow it would bleed so the vet removed it.

If it's like Jani's, then it's best that it gets removed. Those things can start bleeding too much.

Your little guy should be just fine. I've had plenty of surgeries done on even lazy rats and they pulled through fine.

*I posted this in the topic as well, but I'm not sure how many of you will look there, so I decided to post it here as well *

So my lil man goes in for surgery Friday. He is getting a spot removed from his scrotum and he is getting a neuter at this time too.
My only worry is that toby is a very lazy rat ..and I am afraid something will happen when he goes under because he such a low energy rat. I have the best vet in town so i'm sure he will be fine, but it's my job to worry.
So wish him luck and that all goes well, I will update when he comes home Friday!
