I was just talking to SQ. Sunny wasn't doing well, especially since it is such an ordeal getting her meds into her. SQ prioritizes the antibiotic and the decongestant and the most impt heart med, and Sunny hasn't had much of her other meds. The on call vet suggested SQ try a steamy room, so that's what has been happening for the last while. It's a struggle.

Unless there's congestion, I wouldn't add more fluid to the mix with steaming. If Holly does steam, watch Sunny very carefully for any signs of worsening, and get her out of that bathroom fast!

I am surprised the vet didn't opt to pts :sad3:

((hugs))

Yes, SQ had wanted to have her pts, but the on-call vet said to try steam first. Our vet is out of town, so it is someone who has less familiarity with rats. Having some moisture, but not a hot room, will probably be best for Sunny.

It sounds like conjustion ... it is all upper respitory, her lungs are fine.
I think it is helping a bit ... I don't know ....
So hard ...
The idea is to buy time for the antibiotics to work ....
but I don't know if it is worth allowing her to go throught this ....
