Sick rat

Hi. My daughter has phoned me saying that her female 2 year old rat was walking and suddenly fell over. She then walked with difficulty and my daughter picked her up. She’s also breathing rapidly and is puffy. Her eyes keep closing and she’s snuggling with my daughter. She’s not usually an affectionate rat. Any advice please.
Ps. She can only get a vet appointment for 5 hours time.

If she has a head tilt or is walking in circles it may be an inner ear infection. If when you hold her sides to your ear and hear crackling, or gurgling in her lungs (breathing should be silent) then she has a respiratory infection. Both will need antibiotics to cure. Good luck at the vet!
