I'm so sorry I'm chiming in late. I'm sorry to hear you and Rylee have gone through so much. :sad3: I do hope he'll be ok and the hystopath comes back with the news you want to hear. I will certainly keep you both in my thoughts! :hugs:
Thanks everyone, your support means a lot to me.
Tonight, Rylee is looking much better. He's really enjoying the Ensure and I bet he can't wait to have his metacam tomorrow. He's really going to need it because the vet had to cut away at some muscle.
This morning, Rylee was at the front of the cage with the others waiting for their out time. When I removed the bottom doors, the little bugger came popcorning out of the cage. Clearly he no longer needs metacam. :giggle:
Unfortunately, it's bad news. It's Osteosarcoma. Bone cancer. :sad3:
It's very likely it will recur as well as spread. I am to give Rylee metacam every day and cold compresses. Both have shown to regress that cancer in dogs. She can't say if it's hereditary, but it seems to be familial. But hopefully just a fluke thing in Rylee.
Now excuse me while I go hug my Rylee. :cry3:
Oh Jo, I'm so sorry to hear about Rylee. I do hope the meds will help keep him comfy for as long as possible.
I've heard that Steroids can help with wide spread cancer, though we haven't tried them yet here. A friend's little rattie girl was dianosed with a wide spread cancer of the blood (carsinoma??) and she did pretty well on Pred for a few months.
