Respiratory Issues - where to go from here?

When I rescued Hershey his breathing was bad and never improved. An x-ray revealed one of this lungs had permanent damage but he still managed to live for 34 months.

Did you have to keep him on any type of meds his hole life for him to be okay though? I'm afraid Cain has damage because he's had bad brreathing for a very long time now.
