If it wasn't contagious, i'd do it without thinking!... But when it's something so easy for them to catch, i really don't know...

think of it this way...when you get sick, you are most contagious BEFORE the symptoms show up and thats when you can get others sick. Same with rats, your other rats have been exposed to everything your sweetie has, so removing the social rat and putting them on their own, can cause stress which depresses the immune system even further. The only time I remove a rat from its cagemates is if it is sooo sick and the cagemates are stepping on him, etc, OR if they have had a surgery or an injury where the other rats would hurt or bother them.
My poor Soma had pneumonia and her little old neutered man sebastian cuddled with her and kept her company while she was so deathly ill. He lived to 38 months old...hehehe.

I'm glad i had him in another cage for some time because the other boys could lick the liquid used to disinfect him for the injection, but i'll let him rejoin them now. He'll be happy ^_^
