It's in the process of healing finally. We've been dealing with this for roughly 4 months with it just getting unbelievably bad in the past month (basically opening up his whole lower half). Trying many different antibiotics to no avail. Finally she decided to try inserting antibiotic beads directly into the area and stapling him up (which is why he had the cone). We really have no idea how he's alive...the vet is astonished. Plus the whole time he's been acting totally normal even though he's had a gaping hole in his body. We even thought the tip of his penis was going to fall off because it was starting to turn necrotic...but it's starting to go back to normal...another miracle really. We're all baffled, but pleased.

We actually did a culture a little while ago and found 4 or 5 different bacterias, with Clavamox being really the only one that covers them all.

Bluey decided when her bandages came off! I awoke one morning to find the body cast behind her house. I immediately checked her over to see if she was ok. Thankfully, the incision sites had healed leaving some dry scabs. I watched her for a day and then breathed a sigh of relief that she didn't mess with her wounds.

Bluey was overjoyed being able to groom herself again and she quickly got her appetite back. She had gone from and overweight rat on a vet prescribed diet to a slim more healthier pet. Her fat reserves helped her through this physically annoying event.

Bluey the picture of content in her cosy comfy house. Happy 2nd birthday kid! I love you Bluey. :mcake:

Bluey is 2 and a half years had 5 masses removed and spay recently. Is on treatment for lung infection.

Today, my Bluey has a collapse lung and her heart has moved to the right! She is on oxygen, the vet says it may heal soon or not.
I know her time is almost up. I tell her she can leave. This is the 5th rat that has gone this way lung infections.

I just hope she can come home like all my other rats except for Quickey who also had the collapse lung. She was gasping but Bluey is just breathing rapidly.

Anyways, I got real upset and emotional, call my work told to come in but later after I compose myself. I could not I call the manager and told him I can come in but I am upset.

I went into work 2 hour late but they told me to leave as they thought I could not do the job today, being that I work with patient tissue and have to be in a calm state of mind.

I hope to hear from the vet tomorrow.

Rats,
Adeline Oo
