Thanks, all. I just hope we did the right thing. My vet doesn't have a lot of experience with neuro issues, and as I said earlier, they're reluctant to use steroids for things. As far as some of the newer drugs on the market (bromo), they're way in the dark. Dr. P was willing to try steroid this time *if* I wanted, but he and I both felt it was a little beyond help from steroids. Maybe it wasn't but the thought of using him "just to see" just didn't sit right with me.

We had been calling him little Letang, after hockey's greatest D-man.

If the vet could tell that he wasn't responding at all & didn't think he was there anymore, just his bodies reflexes - than you really did the right thing by him, he was already gone just needed help bringing his body up to speed. Poor little guy. :(

I am so sorry for your loss! Poor little bugger, but at least he had those great 5 days with you!

Oh Morgan. I'm so sorry. :tearful:

The poor, little, thing. :sad3: You did the kindest thing for him by giving him back to God. He is now free at the Rainbow Bridge.

You might want to suggest to Dr. P. that he may want to try reaching out to other vets for advice. I know that my vets at Eastern Exotic Veterinary Center did that when they had cases they couldn't figure out. It would help him gain better knowledge of rats.

Dr. McDonald at Eastern Exotics has plenty of experience with rats. Maybe he could connect with her. Tell Dr. McDonald that a friend of Jennifer Bauer referred him to Eastern Exotics. They are really very friendly and helpful at that clinic.

I can't help feeling that little LeTang might have fallen on his head. This all seems to have come on so quickly. Any thoughts?

Athena had something similar (I also only had her for a short time), and got so bad so fast I opted to euthanize and end her suffering then fight. You were right to do what you did.
