As jorats said, male rats can retract their testicles into their body cavity. If so, eventually it should drop.

On the other hand, has he always had only one testicle? Godmother and I adopted two baby rats a couple of years ago that each had one undescended testicle. You could feel the lump in their abdomens where the testicles were located. Both boys required surgery to have their undescended testicles removed.

When most children lose their ball, it's left somewhere outside
But Miraz just hasn't left the house, and still the darn thing hides!
It's a little worse than kittens that have lost their brand new mittens
Cause it makes you rather worried about his plumbin' and his fittin's

But ratties have a hiding place called an inguinal canal
They can stash the family jewels there if they're scared that all ain't well.
I don't think that they keep 'em there long, cause it's kind of a macho thing
To let 'em loose in all their glory to flash & sway & swing.

I understand your worry and I'm hoping all is well
Why he's hiding that special charm none of us can tell.
Unless he's realized that by secreting that special prize
He's become the focus of love & concern in so many female eyes.

I'm not trying to make light of this, honestly, I share your concern for Miraz. I'm just hoping to give you a smile while you deal with what you have to.
Good hopes are going out for your little fella's well-being from here :kisses:

Fidget, that's just too funny!! I was literally lol.

SQ, did your vet say if they needed to have the surgery done or did you get it done bascially because you wanted them neutered?

I love the little poem

I wouldn't worry too much yet, give it a couple of days. Maybe he got real excited recently and... ahem... emptied it LOL (that was Mike's idea)

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! That is PRICELESS!!! I wonder if Poetry.com would appreciate such a poem!!!

That's some positive news Melissa, I sure hope it will go back where it should be and you can not be concerned anymore.
It's gonna be a strange day today when my focus is on saying little prayers for a rattie testicle to descend, but I'll be doing it anyway.

No he just seems annoyed. I think I foudn it last night and it looked like it was coming down.

I sent an email to the Rat Lady. I will let you know if she responds.
Thanks!

I think I remember before that the person who bread the litter had some problems with testicles dropping. I kinda remember this guys taking a bit longer than Miraz's.
