Still no improvement.

I listened to his breathing and heart through a stethoscope and either his lungs sound really clear or are full. I don't know what to listen for. He doesn't make much noise when he breathes. His breathing looks horrible though. He won't eat and drink very much, only some ensure. Should he be euthanized? I've never seen a rat more lethargic and weak.

I took a video of his breathing. Can ANYONE help? I don't know how to make him comfortable. His mommy is out of the state for 5 days, but told me to call her if he needed anything.

I hate making inexperienced decisions on my own. I'm taking him to the vet and I'll go from there. :cry:

The vet said he is not getting any air in his right lung.

He prescribed Pimobendan. Can I give Gus any Metacam? Can it be taken with that?

The vet did a necropsy and said his lungs were covered in abscesses.

Pulmonary abscesses...I have a few suffering that here...its awful and there's not a lot you can do in the end stages although I did find that steroids/dex gave a reprieve for awhile. I am sorry

Sorry for your loss. I just had my girl Olive pts yesterday because of pulmonary abscesses too. It's a sucky condition and there's very little you can do to help. You did everything you could do to help him. :hugs:
