When my vet first just poked Bijoux's lump with a needle he thought it was a seroma as well because it just came up with serum, no red blood cells. That's when he decided to lance it after finding white blood cells after looking at a sample with a microscope. When he lanced it, it was an actual tumor-like lump. So it might be a good idea for your vet to actually lance the lump and open it up if it looks like it's coming back.
