Aspen??? YOWZA!!!!

Ok... this isn't acceptable. There must be a way to learn "Rattish" so we don't have to suffer our little ones through this guessing game.

On another note... how in the world did Dr. Munn access the third eyelid??? I didn't even know rats had three eyelids.

Jo knows all about it, she can tell you LOL.

All I know is that if I was a rat I would've bitten me a lot in the last week or so. :cheeky:

The things I did to my Lilith...trying to see in her eye (pressing on the aspen), putting drops in her eyes (pressing on the aspen), and all she did was squirm and keep her eye clamped shut...no nipping, not even a sound of protest. They really are incredible little beings!

Roquefort used to "squelch" at me when something hurt or was uncomfortable. It was an "original" sound he made...

I didn't like hearing it because I knew what it meant. Nevertheless, it was an adorable sound.

Guess rat girls are a little more pain resistant than rat-men... perhaps because girls have to give birth. I've never had a child but I've heard that the pain levels can really suck.

Does Dr. Munn think Lilith's eye will recover?

The poor, little, fuzz bundle. :rose:

Her eye should be just fine now that the "irritant" is out, her poor wee eye can heal now with the drops and baytril.

Oh sweet Lilith...

She's such a trooper! And I'm sure she must be just as relieved as YOU are that the chunk of aspen is out!!

Here's prayers for a FAST recovery! Brave, brave girl!!

Poor little thing, that would have been so painful. She should have some relief in the next 24-48 hours. Bet that makes the little trouper happy. :D

Almost completely back to normal *whew* She's VERY happy now :D

Awe its soo nice to see her feeling better!

Today when I took my Rhys out his eye looked just like Liliths did, so the first thing I did was check to see if he had anything in it. Lucky for me it was not under his third eye lid...I wasn't sure what could be in there as I only use fleece, and what do I find...a poop particle!!!! This thread saved my Rhys a bit of pain!

Well over the past few days Lilith has started squinting, so I put her back on her baytril treat, and started the drops for a possible infection with NO result...sigh. I called on Wednesday morning (another vet comes into the clinic that day) to see if I could book Lilith an appointment on Monday Jan. 4th, and found out that after 12 noon on Friday, Dr Munn would be out of the office until Thursday.

So I managed to drop off Lilith(and Puck) this morning, she was knocked out, had her eye frozen, and Dr Munn was finally able to pull out bunches of hair out of her eyes! I say Lilith has Lids of Steel...you try to put drops in, see in that eye, etc, and those lids clamp down like you wouldn't believe. Dr Munn told me that even when she's deeply anesthetized, she still squinches that eye, so he has to freeze her eye as well. We are guessing that little Lilith may have a tear duct issue in that one eye, and doesn't produce enough fluids to wash away any irritants, so its likely every few months or so, I will be going to have stuff removed from under her 3rd eyelid. So now as soon as I see her starting to squint a little I'll just make an appointment. :cheeky:

Poor widdle Lilith.

Poor Lilith, of all things her issue has to be in the eye, that's so painful. Glad she is "fixed" yet again. :D

I-yi-yi, poor baby, lord that had to hurt! Her eye most, your heart & wallet second. I hope it can resolve itself so you both don't suffer from it continually.
Did the vet say if massage and/or compresses could help? Kisses to Lilith.

i bet Dr.Munn puts bets on what he is going to find in her eye next

do you think her being a double rex could be not helping with the problem too?
