Is his pinky toe broken??

I have been keeping my rat in his cage to rest lately because i think he has a broken pinky toe. You can see in the picture that his toe is bent at a right angle. Is it broken? What should i do, go to the vet or just let him rest and heal?

That doesn't look bad to me. They can really splay their toes. Also, it would have turned a dark blue purple if the bone broke. Is he not walking on it?

Hes been limping a lot which is what made me concerned. It hasnt changed color though so thats good.

He might have sprained the leg if he's not walking on it. He'll rest it until he feels better.

If he seems to be in pain or you notice swelling then you might want to give pain meds such as metacam - amount given is based on weight
