Ahh the eye thing is different...most likely a faulty tearduct.

I heard that my poor Lilith cried as she was having her face cleaned up :sad-p:

Here is what it looks like now that we are home

And Inca is eating fabric right now (dang pica!)

I figure that I should give Inca her first injection at 9:30-10, then set my alarm for 5:30-6 for her next one, and pray that holds her for 12 hours til I get home from work. She will also be getting metacam as well.

Wow, it was a really big day for both of them. Poor sweethearts having to go through all that; good thing they have such an amazing vet.

Kisses and all our best wishes for them both to have a speedy recovery.

Poor Inca and Lilith!

Hopefully Lilith's scab will heal up just fine, with no other problems! And, it's rather amazing how Inca was standing on three legs there, even though she'd basically just been through serious surgery!

Best of wishes for a very speedy, complication-free recovery!

Here is Lilith's new cream to help her sore

Inca and I had a long long night. Her pica behaviour was making her pick and pull at the skin around the incision. I ended up wrapping her and staying up with her until midnight, when I gave her the metacam. I just left her and tried to get some sleep. Her hospital cage was on the bed beside me and even though I tried to sleep it didn't work very well. Every time I reached in to touch her she was licking/picking at the incision...sigh :/

This morning I inspected the damage and it wasn't too bad really. I gave her another injection (such a good little girl!) and some cuddles, and some Ensure. Went for my shower, and came back to her finally comfortable and sleeping where SHE wanted to be... :giggle:

I am VERY pleased with Inca's progress and healing! :) This morning she is much more herself. She's drinking from the bottle again (I was worried about dehydration but realized that she must've been sneaking out and drinking from the small bowl on the end table I have out for the rats), she's climbing over my side when I lay down, she's exploring farther and farther and her eyes seem much more relaxed. Today we are going to lay off the buprenorphine and see how she does with just a good dose of metacam alone. Tonight I will be switching around ratters into different cages so that she can move back into a cage that is better suited for her "disability".

It's incredible how quickly Inca's adjusted to having only 3 legs from, I suppose, 3.5 legs. Did she use the stump to move around before or not at all?

Poor Lilith... sending many healing vibes her way!!
