That is not coughing...that is a respiratory infection :( What did the seizure look like? Was she standing shivering or was she batting at the air with her paws, did she fall over, convulse ? You are going to have to figure out a way to get her to a vet, or figure out a way to get her to me, and I will see if my vet can save her :( I am in Toronto though :(

I figured - my other rats cough sometimes too. Trust me they're first priority when I get a job - but for now I can't even get to Toronto. I literally have no money. But if you're willing to come to Oshawa and take her to a vet you would definitely be my new best friend.

The seizure wasn't bad at all, but I'm sure it didn't feel good. It was just 8 seconds of slight involuntary shakes. I can't sleep cause I'm worried -_-[/quote

Sadly no car here. Lets see if she makes it through the night. She'll need to be kept hydrated and warm.

She won't be able to eat on her own anymore, that's a very sick rat. You will need to hand feed her soft foods like baby cereal and/or Ensure from a syringe.

But honestly I can tell you how this will go.

1) that little click you hear at the end of the video, that will come more and more then become full open mouth gasping as she struggles to breathe. This could go on for a short time or a long time but in the end she will die painfully.

2) you will go out and find her gone.

Do you have ANYONE you can borrow money from to take this poor rat to the vet to be humanely put to sleep? Even a loan? Can you call around the vet clinis and find out how much it is? What bank do you use?

She just passed away. I was holding her the whole time. She had a bad seizure for about 10 seconds and I told her it was okay to go - to stop the pain. And she went. I didn't know her for long but I'm still so sad... :'(

IF you have other rats watch for symptoms in them.

I am sorry she lost the battle, rest well sweet girl.

I'm so sorry. :tearful:

You did the best you could with what you had. :hugs: Little Bandit died in a loving environment... more than she had probably ever seen in her young life.... and she has you to thank for that joy. :love6:

Play hard at the Rainbow Bridge, little lady. :flowers:
