Oh I know they'd try to climb the play pen. I wouldn't just leave them in there though. I'd be siting in there with them if i did do that. I'm just weighing all my options. We probably won't even have a back yard to have a playpen lol so I'll have to make something for in side. Though they can jump really high not only climb, so I'll have to take that into consideration too.

I take my ratties out in the summer when it's not too warm or sunny out. I use guniea pig harnesses, they work great, no one get's out of them. It's good exercise and it's alot of fun for them :)

wow how old is this thread lol 2008! holy crap lol

They actually stay in the harness? I'm surprised! We tired and they squirmed out of them.

Yeah, the gunie pig harness works really well with them ..one of my boys even fits in a ferret one, it has a bell on it too, so when he walks it dingles :)

I am way too paranoid to take my rats outside because of the abundance of predators where I live. Although, I have taken a couple outside and have them sit on my lap. I've tried different harnesses and my rats always manage to wriggle out of them!

I have a little carrier that I use for when I'm in the car, and then once we get to the destination I let them out and they ride on my shoulders. I've taken them to WalMart, the library, friend's houses, pretty much everywhere I go, the rats have come with me. I've had good luck so far. They really seem to enjoy the new smells, they powersniff like crazy.
