He is hanging in there. He is still lopsided, but he is getting out of bed more, and is taking his meds a little better. It is still hard to watch him, it makes me dizzy, but his energy and appetite are still good. He is not getting worse, so that is good.
If this is an ear infection, how long will it take to see an improvement from the meds?

At this point I am cautiously optimistic at this point. :)

Sending healing vibes to your sweetie. It can take a while for an ear infection. But the tilt could remain. And as Jo said they do adapt, I have two like that.

Well, we fought a hard battle with Gusto. The zithro and meloxicam were continued for 10 days, and although the head tilt got better, his overall condition continued to worsen. Since his last appt (10 days) he has lost 17 grams. He will not come out of his cardboard box unless forced, and once out he runs under a pillow on the couch and just sits there. He is no longer interested in his fleece bed. His rear right leg almost "paddles" behind him and all weight is completely on left side, and even his other hind leg curls under and drags when he tries to walk. He is constantly rolling over on to his back or side. He just seems uncomfortable when trying to move. This morning I witnessed him try and pull himself back into his box while his rear end was upside down. He also refused a piece of Chex cereal, his favorite!

My fiance took him back to the vet this morning and we had to make a difficult decision... Gusto will not be coming home. :sad3:

I'm so sorry.. I've heard of successful eye removals of course, but most seem to not turn out real well. You did all you could for your babe. I hope knowing you fought against all odds for him gives you some comfort. And knowing he knew he was that valuable gives you more. Heaven has one more kid who knows he was worth loving anywhere.
