Her being unconscious or "gone" would have made my final decision much easier, but apparently I did not deserve such a reprieve. She was conscious and suffering. I made the decision to end that suffering.

Thank you all for your help and support.

You were able to find another vet?

What a terrible end to such a short life. So sorry. She clearly had internal injuries from the fall that could not be detected during the vet's external exam.

Rats are odd creatures....sometimes they go through hell and manage to recover miraculously; other times a very small injury or illness or just change in air temperature can make them sick and they can decline so quickly due to their accelerated metabolism.

You did the best you could to help her. She's in a better place now. :cuddle:

Sade, I'm so sorry I missed this thread. I have a lovely girl named Willow who took a tumble at almost 2 years, she was climbing down the cage head first and fell and landed on her head. She shook it off, this was Monday, Wednesday she was lethargic, couldn't move, very much like PT. I got her to a vet and got her prednisone. This helped for a while, we assume she had swelling in her head that was brought on by the fall. We got her back for a little while 2-4 weeks but she left us soon after that.

I'm so sorry about your girl :hugs:
