I sincerely appreciate your offer Victoria. Someone has already offered to send them and mailed them out to me, but it means a lot that you were willing to do that for me.

I wish I had thought to ask my vet about smaller syringes while I was there! lol I was pretty distraught with the news about Dazzle, so a bit flaky. My vet really needs to move the practice closer to me :cheeky: One can dream right?

I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about lilspaz, except maybe the ones where the needle is on a piece of removable fitted plastic? I've avoided the mention of rodents (in hopes of them being more helpful) and been told that aside from insulin syringes 1cc is the smallest they carry, but I'll try explaining a bit more of the situation to them. I've surprisingly never had anyone make rude remarks about rats to me, so hopefully they have more sense than to be insensitive while I'm treating a terminally ill pet... If this doesn't work, and I don't get the syringes in the mail tomorrow, looks like it will be back to the vets.

So, Dazzle's appetite is up a bit, but she's now decided to snub anything dry! LOL The mushed lab blocks are ensuring nutrition, but she thinks she's being spoiled :giggle: She isn't being bullied out of eating, but she eats so slowly me and my boyfriend are taking her out constantly to feed her separately so that she gets enough of the "treats" (especially with Missy my squish). She hasn't gained any weight, but she hasn't lost any more either at least. She looks very poor and sad with her mammary cysts, skin lesions, poor fur condition, and weight loss, but she's still very enthusiastic and bright  .

Is she still doing well with the pred?

My teddy was put on pred 4 days ago due to rapid weight loss ..although he has hed and kidney preoblems ..but the pred has not helped any ..so we areweaning him off the pred now.

I'm sorry the pred hasn't helped teddy :( I hope you find something that does help.

She seems to be doing very well on the prednisone, she's got more of an appetite and seems a bit more..lively. She has no known kidney problems, but now you've got me wondering if I should ask for dexamethasone.

I also might as well add, when I was nebulizing her she stood up and stretched and I swore one side of her belly looked like it stuck out more, the side that her spleen would be on. Mind you this could have been my eyes playing tricks on me. I haven't been able to get her to stretch like that again, and while she's a very sweet, licky, friendly girl, she's not fond of being poked and prodded too much...I'm calling the vet monday to mention it to them. I'm also considering pushing for an x-ray and maybe a CBC. My vet had said they weren't necesarry because they might not show anything, and steroids would be the treatment either way, but I'm starting to feel like I really should check...

The one reason my vet prefers to prescribe Pred over Dex is that Dex depresses the immune system more. Just something else to keep in mind...

Thank you, I wasn't aware of that difference between the two steroids. She is on lifetime antibiotics after an awful lung infection so that may be why she chose prednisone.

I'm glad your girl is doing well.

I was wondering about Teddy (RattyMomma) if he might be better on Dex because of his kidney problems.
