Whoa, I do not see how this all went so wrong.

Just because someone said things you didn't like, it doesn't mean you're going to be verbally attacked by other forum members. Please don't hold what others said against lilspaz. She is an amazing rat mom and will be able to give him medicine and make him feel better.

His original purpose did not work out, and you never intended to keep him, so why not let him go to a wonderful home? You didn't use him as a feeder, and if he knew of that, he'd thank you immensely.

Everyone else here would put their children ahead of their animals if it came to that. If their pets needed vet care and they could not afford it, they would rehome them.

If you were to purchase baytril yourself, we could help you, but it's not as simple as asking "how much do I give". His weight is needed, as well as the concentration of the medication.

I've done this before...others weren't able to afford the vet for whatever reason and I take them in since I have a wonderful relationship with my vet and am allowed to have meds at home that others might not. Fred came to me very sick from a rescuer (inner ear infection), he now has a whole Harem of girls and is a beautiful albeit tilty boy.

Goliath was dying as a wee 4 weeker until a girl decided to rehome him to me...he came from Brampton as well. :heart:

I wouldn't judge. The economy is awful, being out of a job is terrifiying, and I know if you had the extra money that you would take him to the vet if you could. :hugs:

Hannah, you do live on the otherwise of the world. So you obviously cannot help. I on the other hand am looking for help. If that means rehoming, i have no issue.
And I have looked for someone, I recall stating that nobody wants a biting rat. I've looked among my friends who do not hate rats. I do not trust craigslist or kijiji. So I posted here. Lilspaz was kind enough to offer this guy a home, and I am thankful.

Lilspaz, I would take him to a vet if I could. I originally had my savings for such things. That is why I mentioned that I am going to be using it for rent. It is not available for vet fees. I have spent money on taking care of my pets, thats what you do. Unfortunately I am not able to. I have been searching for a job, and if anyone wants to hire me then yay. But because I have been spending the last 5 years raising my children ,and its where i prefer to be, I do not have an amazing resume. So sue me for not having a job. If I did not care I would not ask for help. If I could do nothing, for whatever reason, he would be rehomed or humanely euthinized. There are shelters, they are full, but they will cover that fee. So he is being rehomed if I can find someone to meet lilspaz. I do not trust someone offline, due to what Hannah has posted. So if I cannot find someone and this rat dies, it is your fault. Even if you are on the other side of the ocean. Deal with that reality and think next time before you type something.

No. The rat is in your hands, in your care and your responsibility. If the rat dies, it is your fault - you failed to provide, i didn't. Don't turn your mess around on someone else because of what they have written on the internet. I will not be having sleepless nights over this, which you may. Good luck with that.

Let's try to focus on the rat here... He needs to a good home that provides vet care no matter the type of rat, feeder or biter.

I believe lilspaz68 is offering to help you. Please do not make your little guy pay with suffering and probably his life, because you are upset with what others have said. Whipple couldn't find a transporter on her end, but I did mail her some baytril and doxy for Yogurt. He should be getting his first dose tonight...she says he is feeling/acting better :thumbup:
