He is a very fortunate boy to be with you.
I hope the other injured rats recieving medical care at the SPCA.

Can the vet knock him down and thoroughly debride the area? If the lesion is opened up and cleaned out and let to dry in the air, maybe it would heal?

I think the infection has finally broke. His tail looks amazing and finally is healing. :joy:

Blaze has come of quarantine and although still in his own cage, he can see the other rats at a safe distance. He is so happy to have a big comfy cage with lots of toys. He has come out of his shell as well. He is always waiting at the door for treats and cuddles now. :cuddle:

Thank you for the ideas about soaking, I think it definitely helped. I'll post pics soon.

I'm also so glad to hear his relative (possibly brother) is safe with SQ.

Sorry I haven't been on ratshack for a while or updating.

Blaze is doing great. He is aggressive to every rat that he meets so he is going to the "nad fairy" :wink2: as soon as I save up some money. He will nip if you aren't firm with him especially in his cage. He is quite territorial in his comfort zone.

His tail has healed but the skin is very thin and delicate. Every little bump makes it split and bleed. With so much scar tissue I am not sure if we can do anything to help that.

What a handsome boy! I'm sure once he's missing a few key parts he will be less nippy...
Do you think it's worth removing a bit of tail to improve the skin and healing? If he's going to be under anaesthetic for a neuter, could they do something then? It must be sore if the skin keeps splitting and bleeding.

I'd like to know how his tail is doing by now! Should be completely healed or at least i hope it is :D
Wonderful boy <3
